Do we need Christmas somewhere in the OP, or have we just decided Secret Santa is enough?
Anyone do At The Mountains of Madness yet?
>>77933932
I thought that was going to be a thing when asked in like two threads ago, guess that's not the case.
>>77933973
>>77933932
Sorry, my bad if that was the plan.
>>77934005
No apology necessary. If a picture of Superman and Santa doesn't give it away from a quick catalog browse, nothing will
an anon drew this for me last night and it makes me incredibly happy
so I'm going to share it
thanks again /co/mrade
seriously
it was the highlight of my shitty week by far

And now I'm thinking about Star Vs.

Heyo! Love that pic.
Good evening folks, last night's "Name That Obscure Christmas Carol" seemed to go over well, so I've got a few more lined up for you guys tonight.
Again, guess all four songs correctly and I'll buy something from your list!

I just did a run through an update of the pastebins, mostly just adding a few new lists.
We are at 75 ungifted (not counting the 4 needing addresses) and 65 gifted. That's a 46% rate of gifting.

Not bad considering we're only one week into December.

>>77934350
Man, I wish I was even slightly musically inclined. Or that I wasn't basically tone-deaf.
>>77934005
Eh no need to be sorry, just that it was requested by some to have Christmas somewhere in the OP and another anon made a thread thinking there weren't any this year because he couldn't find the thread. It's why I added Christmas Cheer to the subject for the last thread I did.

Once again, props to your music playing. Good stuff.
>>77934501
Every time I hear piano music I start wishing I could play. Seems like a nice skill to have.
>>77934593
wow look at this bundle of christmas cheer ready to suck the fun out of everything
Bouncing between the cheer here and the agony of the Storytime of Pain in >>77932518 is surreal.

Back in MY day, if we wanted to cheat like that we had to figure out the melody by scale degrees and then go use a hymn book incipit index :(

It's easy to start and difficult to master. Even messing around you can pickup and learn some songs.

I thought it time to finally obtain a tripfag status. How is everyone enjoying their December 4th? No snow yet, here in Ohio.
>>77934689
I remember back in library school one day we had a music librarian come talk to our class and she showcased one of those old print books that helps you identify songs just based on the pattern of the first few notes. I was really wanting that last night when I couldn't name Song #4.
>>77934728
I am incredibly, embarrassingly tone deaf.

They are really handy but you have to know how to use them, especially the hymn ones.
Oh boy! A new thread to post my code in! 297MIGOM4JLT0
So, /co/, tell me, what's your fondest Christmas memory? It could be a great dinner, a present you got, a Christmas stage show, or just any small memory from Christmas time that you hold dear to your heart.
>>77934763
Hey another Rider fan!
This is my first winter out here close to the coast in Maryland, and it much milder so far than what I'm used to.
>>77934763
Where in Ohio? I'm in BG. Otherwise I'm just getting caught up on Comedy Bang Bang on Netflix.
2MOV0MGY5304H
Also, have this gem I found while perusing the internet.
>>77934776
You can actually lean it as rhythm. If you can lean to type without looking at the keyboard then you can lean to play piano pretty well. Though being tone deaf would hinder you appreciation of the result.

I know it's heresy, but I really don't like Alex Ross art. Like, I totally appreciate the technical skill, but it doesn't work for me as comic book art.
Which reminds me sometime this year I should storytime that Superman Peace on Earth story he did.

>Whereabouts on the coast? I'm in Coastal VA and just drove up that way for a conference a few weeks ago.
Waldorf, I'm about half an hour South of DC.
Love how well these threads have been doing so far, threads seem to fill up a lot faster now too.

I'll be streaming the horrid train wreck that is The Star Wars Holiday Special. I don't know what the streaming site will be but if anyone has a suggestion of a good free streaming site please let me know.
Once I have a link for the stream I'll post it in the threads and I'll toss the link at the bottom of the pastebins.
I gotta call it a night, later my cheerful /co/mrades
Is it too early in the thread for a story time that only has superficial connections to Christmas? Also posting my list 2WQ1O3BK6Q9L0
Alright, dang it, let's do it.
A tale of snowy horror.
And Penguins.
>>77935196
Oh hey this is a pretty good Lovecraft adaptation.

Bruh I'm in Northern VA, do you go to Awesome Con?
>>77935116
Same question to you!
This reminds me, where's Christmas Robin?
>>77934815
wouldn't call it my fondest, but it's the first one that comes to mind, and I think it's best expressed in greentext.
>years back
>I'm constantly losing pens/pencils at school
>My stepmother is an absolutely wonderful Slovak woman
>she says to me that one day she's going to get me a buttload of pens
>about eight months later christmas rolls round
>little kid me races downstairs, everything's dandy, tree's rammed with stuff including one huge box.
>ohboyohboyohboyIwonderwhat'sinthemassivebox.rar
>I open all the presents and it's one hell of a haul - games and albums up the wazoo.
>save the huge box 'till last.
>open it, expecting something amazing
>it's a big unmarked cardboard box
>it's shockingly light
>open it anyway
>there is absolutely nothing there except an asda-brand 50-pack of pens.
words cannot describe the crushing disappointment and acute sense of comeuppance I felt that day.
>>77935234
That's a cute Kalibak
>>77935234
Christmas Robin hasn't made an appearance as of yet, sadly.
>>77935234
Nope. I just moved up here in July. Never actually been to a con, though it's on my list. Is Awesome Con worth it?
Whereabouts are you? One of my best friends is in Manassas. I'd really like to be in NOVA so I can be closer to DC. But I also hate traffic, so I'm torn.
>>77935234
Nope, I don't have the time to get to cons right now.
>>77935284
Whoops, sorry for splitting up the storytime, Dave.

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope today was a good day for all of you. Off-topic, but I got Guitar Hero Live today. Previous GH games on Expert used to be a cakewalk, but damn that new guitar.
>>77935397
All?
Depends haha. He might be happy to do it.
I'll never not kick myself for missing J.O'Barr
>>77935401
I would love to get back into Guitar Hero (ironically I think being proficient at piano makes you better at the game, all the guitarists I know had trouble with it), but god damn I'd have to buy all those peripherals again.
>>77935397
He's seem chill. Tell us how it goes. I like to hear about how creators are in person.
>>77935437
This always busted me up, speaking of Guitar Hero:
https://youtu.be/cHRfbiwdheg?t=31
>>77935488
GH3 had a bunch of overcharted bullshit, and Dragonforce in general is pretty pleb-tier as far as power metal goes, so both combined makes for some songs that are written to look more complicated than what they are. I have no idea what tack the new Guitar Hero takes in terms of charting songs.
>>77935219
I like the Thompson Dreamquest for Unknown Kadath- a lot.
>>77935588
I love that one too.
The original story is very...light and fantastical, so that adaptation captures that tone spot on
>>77935557
The most disappointing thing with Dragonforce is that those admittedly kind of cool and showy "two guitars in fauxbourdon 3rds/6th" passages only work in the studio, their tuning live is complete ass
>>77935640
I've never seen them live, but yeah that's what I've heard.
>>77935688
I haven't seen them live but I did some youtubing and it's kind of painful. There's a reason AutoTune has made so much money--tuning is hard.
>>77935288
It's the only conventions I make time to go to. It's less of a comic convention and more of a multimedia one but it's a blast. The panels are great, the guests are great, and it's okay on the price. I love it!
But I'm about 30 minutes out of Manassas in Winchester!
>>77935299
It's in June! Make time!
>>77935766
>It's in June! Make time!
Oh shit, really? I can probably make it then. I'm a teacher and have most of June and July to plan and do sabbatical shit on my own time.

Don't forget guys, I've got a contest running up here: >>77934350
I'll keep it running through tonight, but if it proves to be too difficult after a couple hours I'm going to start giving out hints.

Feels good man. Time to buy a /co/mrade a gift and I will be Freeâ„¢.
Everybody in this comic looks like vault boy
this story is weird so far
So when I was taking a shower after work I had a really good idea of something to add to the christmas mediafire, /co/ related Christmas radio shows. There's some Shadow, Superman, Lone Ranger and one from the Archie radio show.

A Very Murray Christmas is super weird but totally worth putting on as background noise for a Christmas party, at the very least. I'm watching Bill Murray and Miley Cyrus singing a duet on "Let It Snow" right now, and I'm not sure I understand the world anymore.
>>77936470
,,,,maybe for NYE
The end.
That's me spent.
Time to finish up my submission.
>>77936737
Thanks, Dave!
Man the thread is slow tonight. I figured a Friday would be moving quicker.
>>77936789
I was too invested in the story! I'm working tomorrow, so I actually have to be headed to bed. Goodnight, all.
>>77936789
Why? You think we're a bunch of losers without plans on Friday nights?
... 'cause it's true. ;_;
>>77936789
Well when the entire thing is taken up by a hundred page story it kind of muddies things up.
>>77936914
That's too bad.
Didn't think it would stifle it that bad.
>>77934010
I met the original artist of this at a con and got him to autograph a print of it for me. When I saw it in the book I just had to have it.
>>77935483
Bill, you fuckstick. C'mon, they're discovering an era of paleotology previously unknown to man.
Join in on the fun you fucking ass.
If no one's storytiming anything, I will start in a few minutes
Thanks Dave

not necessarily tied to /co/ but if there's interest I might set up a stream of the MST3K christmas episodes sometime this weekend
Are you ready for an X-Xmas?
It's Christmas and the Sentinels are back!

>>77935869
It's been a while since I forced myself to read Mountains of Madness, but I'm pretty sure they didn't mention anything about the Necronomicon or it's author.
Hell, I'm pretty sure they only got Cthulhu from the carvings in the city later on.
>>77937329
Nice That could be real fun.
>>77934073
No problem man. Hope you had a better day today. Hope to have a better photo for you soon, too.

Man. Lovecraft would make an awesome DM.
Just look at all the crazy and interesting worldbuilding and encounters he dreamed up. Prose just wasn't his wheelhouse, especially for horror, his way of writing was too dry and technical for it.
>>77937631

Did anyone check out Robin War? Thoughts?
This issue has some great images

You have a good heart. I received it last year and it instantly became a favorite.
>>77937706
With Robin War do I need to read the other Robin books? Because right now all I read is Grayson.
Jean sure thinks a lot
>>77937862
You can read the first issue without reading the others. I'm 90% sure they're setting up this event to be able to be read in trade without reading any of the series tied-in, though obviously you'll get more out of knowing the characters and such beforehand. That said,
>>77937706
It wasn't a great start for the plot, but it had some fun shenanigans and it looks like there could be more ahead. And Damian was actually written well which is always a nice surprise.
Some proper horror here as well
I think I'll do one more Classic Marvel Christmas issue
"A Yuletide classic"
