It's actually "canon" to the New 52. Tynion has said that it takes place in the continuity, but he didn't want to give away when, so that he didn't spoil things about this story and later Bat-stories (I honestly think that's a shit excuse, but what can you do?)
Still, it's pretty easy to guess around when this happens.

That design is exactly New52 Bats. Also Damian is Robin during it meaning that at the very least everything up until he was Robin alongside Bruce is canon AKA the start of the New52.
