Did anyone actually liked this show?
>>
Am I crazy or did it go from a catchy theme song to some shit theme song at some point?
>>
>>77915891
Both seasons had their own themesong. I thought the second one was appropriate for the titular character and setting, but the shortened version for the actual show sounded bad compared to the full thing.

I remember the original trailer for the show used a song by the Ramones. I think it was Judy is a Punk.

>>77915729
I liked it okay. I'm a sucker for slapstick comedy. I wish it had been the Heloise & Lucius Show though. Beezy really pissed me the fuck off though. I hate retarded best friend characters that only seem to be around to make everything worse in every way imaginable. Especially when they are aware of it.
>>
>>77915729
It had its moments.
>>
Yeah, for a Canada toon it was top-tier. Which means it was actually pretty good.

Saffi was hot.
>>
>>77915729
It amused me from time to time.
>>
The little girl and the demon were flavors for a couple of years. That's all I remember.

>It's only so Beezy can dump her
>>
>>77917032
She still is.
>>
>>77915729
The theme to the first season was catchy as fuck.

I liked the show. Jimmy and Beezy kind of remind me of the old Spongebob and Patrick but toned down a bit.
>>
I still find it really weird how a show that got pitched as this really gory black comedy in hell eventually just turned into another comparably generic kid cartoon.

It makes you really wonder how many of these shit ass canadatoons start off as something so much more before they get turned into generic schlock.
>>
>>77917717
this show was originally supposed to be aimed towards adults?

huh
>>
>>77915729
It is in my list of things to watch. Also Heloise!
>>
>>77917717
For a brief time Teletoon did this push to have a niche as having adult cartoons, and becoming an adult-focused cartoon channel in prime time+. This was to separate them from and compete with YTV, which was less live action Disney channel type clone then.

I was even in production talks with them, well co-production for a show I developed. We did the pitch and bible, started pilot but our BC animation studio suddenly collapsed because of rebate issues(probs with of media credit funds) and that ended the co-production.

The only 'adult' thing they ever really did was that horrifyingly god awful 18+ Dating Guy, and then that stunningly unfunny PG Crash Canyon show.
>>
>>77918068
>Crash Canyon
oh hey I remember that

it was so painfully safe and friendly I had a hard time believing it was MTV airing it in my country

not much apart from that though, wasn't really memorable

what show was that you were working on?
>>
It was the last show Jetix Europe worked on before it went away.

The show was also called Jimmy Cool in some European countries for whatever reason.
>>
>>77918165
MTV had the worldwide distribution rights to the show.
>>
>>77915729
I liked it, though I never really took the time to keep up with it.
>>
It was pretty watchable compared to the average pile of Canadian animated shit.
>>
>>77915729
LOSE and Jimmy Two Shoes actually restored my faith in Canadian cartoons, so there's that

Beetlejuice, Reboot and Beast Wars are the only ones I can remember that I liked.

Canadian here. Not even going to call myself Canadafag because the industry here sucks.

A couple years ago, in my first year of college, I struck out to pitch a cartoon. I didn't have any of the skills or experience needed to actually land the pitch of course. I was still too young.

I networked and interacted with people over the course of the next couple months, shopping around my idea. Constantly improving it. In my opinion I actually developed some really cool character dynamics.

One day I'm talking to this writer. Worked on a bunch of these sub par Canadian cartoons. He showed me an episode of the show he worked on, which I was absolutely disgusted by. Canned plot, shit characters, absolute trash. I asked him why he would use a canned plot and he told me "Eh, because people here don't care."

Suddenly realized where I lived. Met the creators of another show. They claimed not to care. Get a new storyboarding teacher, who worked on some really solid things back in the day (Redwall and shit). "People don't care".

I quit. People have a lot of good intentions here in Canada, but they're usually the little guys.

Don't quit yet man, things look bad but there's gotta be another way.
>>
>>77927240
Yeah man. It seriously hurt to know that I wasn't going to be able to take it too far here. I mean we subsidize animation pretty friggen hard. I'm always shocked when something half decent comes out of here because when you closely examine the Canadian industry, its brutal.

Corporate television suits don't really give a shit about cartoons, and just see them as this medium for children. They want to make cartoons for a fraction of the budget Americans do it for, and are then confused when its not nearly as successful. But they'll do it again and again because it makes them mad sheckles.

Of course this demotivates everyone beneath them. Which is everyone.

My show that I was pitching was a quirky action show, with a long overarching plot, and written to have plenty of character arcs and growth. The guy I was pitching it to (Head of the creative department of a major network), asked me to make it more like Spongebob.

Do you even know how many people die every day???? We got our hands full! Putting unbaptized babies in the limbo, having to deal with dicks who were baptized but died before he could sin so technically we have to accept them in heaven, hearing millions of people asking for stupid shit! And if all that were not enough God left saying he would be out for just a minute but a thousand of years for him is like a day so it have been centuries since and we had to cover for him since them!
>>
>>77927919
What's a promise worth on 4chan anyway? Voice casting is super important. I don't think I would necessarily regionally lock it down like that based on the fact that anon asked me to, you know?

You've got to go find the voices that are best suited for your characters. If you're looking for a rare fish, you cast a big net, you know?
