This thread got me to think about what cartoons /co/ would put off limits for their own children. My brother can watch whatever barring the obvious like South Park, but this little fucker (pic related) has always been banned since kids like to imitate his bullshit.

So /co/, what will never air in your homes?

So glad I have the ability to prevent someone from being a weeaboo/brony. That I can succeed where so many have failed.
>>
Whatever shitty CGI show is popular when they're 5.

Joking. Mostly.

I wasn't really planning on preventing my kids from watching anything.
I mean I'll give them shit and probably mock their taste mercilessly.
But as long as they're not 6 years old watching rape porn Im not planning on preventing them from watching much.

Im sure they'll have shit taste.
but until they're old enough to change the channel I have a few shows picked out for them to watch.

Pete and Pete is on the top of that list.

>Letting children watch TV or use the internet
>>
Won't let then see adult cartoons unless they do it with me by their side. Won't censor anything kid-oriented. If I dislike a show or disagree with the characters' actions, I will tell my kids and discuss these moments with them, but the choice to watch or not to watch something will be on them. I want my future kids to make their own choices and develop their own taste.
>>
>>77904250
I have a 10 year old and 5 year old twins and this show is the only kids show that I will not allow in my house. I can put up with the insipid bullcrap from a lot of the Disney Junior and Nick Jr. and Sprout and so on but not this. Whining to get what you want doesn't fly in my house.
>>
>>77907028
>I have a few shows picked out for them on a playlist that I will have to sit down and make them watch

I don't have a reason to know about young kids programming - what's so bad about Caillou?
>>
>>77907933

Wondering this also.
The only thing I remember is the kid was a massive whiner.
And he had a sister named Rosie.

http://www.mommyish.com/2013/07/31/parents-hate-caillou/

This whole article is by parents that have a hate boner for this kid. Essentially he whines all the time and does shit that would have resulted in an assbeating or at least a time out in a more liberal household. He never seems to learn a lesson and the adults pretty much let him do whatever.

My brother would slur his words and talk like a baby after catching an episode and we tried our hardest to keep him from being exposed to him despite the fact sprout would air it all the time.
>>
>>77907685
Kids aren't exactly discerning consumers though. It's well known that, at an early age, a kid will sit & watch absolutely anything that's on.
If that's the pattern when they're little, they'll keep the habit. They won't "develop their own taste" because they'll be used to watching whatever happens to be playing without question.
We're not just talking about objectionable content, we're including shows that are just plain stupid too. You are the adult, you should have the confidence that your taste in media is better than a small child's.
>>
>>77907933
Caillou is a brat. In every episode he whines and cries and screams when even the smallest thing goes wrong. Then his parents don't tell him off for it rather than they just give in and play to his every demand.

My little sister would watch it when she was younger and it made her a really brat until we forbid it- then she went back to being pretty calm.

All in all it just gives kids bad views and it's a pretty stupid show overall.

My cousin isn't allowed to watch any Disney live action crap when I'm around, I have no idea why she likes it but she tries to imitate teen behavior when she's like 11 and I'm not going to stand for it.
>>
They can watch whatever cartoon they want, as long as it's intended for kids.

The internet however, no unlimited access until they're 13-14.
>>
>>77913856
Can't think of a single, good live action show for kids. Not one airing now at least.
>>
Most of the stuff that's on now probably won't be airing by the time I have kids.

As long as it's not mind numbing or fetish fuel I won't really care.
>>
>>77904293
Confirmed by show staff and author, Caillou doesn't have cancer. He's just a whiny little shit of a kid.
>>
>>77913989
Pajanimals is good for everyone. Sweetpea Sue is my daughteru.
>>
>>77909412
This. Also, nearly anything happen. He go to the store with his mom. He play with his friend. There's nothing to trigger the plot, and the character are faily dull. If you want a slice-of-life story with a child, do yourself a favour, and read Yotsubato!, it is, unlike Caillou, well done.
>>
>>77914776
>because my kid would want to read a slice of life manga.
Appreciate the suggestion, but gonna have to give it a hard pass.
>>
>>77904250
you're not going to let your kid watch the One Punch Man prequel?
>>
>>77904405
You know your opinions are just as arbitrary as parents who decide their child can't watch say Simpsons because "it's stupid"? Right?
>>
>>77915313
Except those decisions were made by the ignorant baby boomer who had no idea what it was other than a cartoon with adult jokes.

Were on here because we actually spend time watching these shows out of our own interest. Almost every faggot who comes here has a more informed grasp on quality kids shows than any of our parents did.
>>
>>77915313
nobody is saying any of this is fair. That wasn't the question.
>>
>>77915505
Why are you defending him? He wants his children to not watch cartoons he personally dislikes, because he personally dislikes them, and to make his kids favourite cartoon the same as his own. It doesn't matter if he's a big cartoon fan, he's still forcing his shitty opinions on his kid.
>>
>>77915607
Because id rather have had something i could share with my parents than just blatant censorship of a show and a complete lack of understanding of what i end up liking. Not to mention we have a whole generation of asshole kids that were raised on this garbage and look how they turned out.

The difference im trying to point out is that our parents didnt care about or were actually aware of what went on in cartoons other than what the media or church told them.
>>
I used to work in a bookstore, and when I was working in the Kids section, I'd often have to give recommendations to parents. I recall speaking to one mother who, when Caillou was mentioned, went on a huge rant about how she's forbidden her children from watching it, mostly for the reasons other anons have already mentioned.
However, after I became an uncle a few years ago, I've had to sit through a lot of Treehouse with my niece. If there's any show I would ban, it would be Toopy and Binoo. My god... don't get me wrong. Homosexuals are great and all, but Toopy is a huge, creepy, flaming faggot. He makes my skin crawl, and I'm not even a homophobe.
>>
>>77904250
Anything that can't be seen on public television.
No fucking way am I paying for my kids to rot their brains watching TV.
>>
>>77915865
But he's exactly the same as those stupid parents, stop trying to pretend he's some animation enthusiast. Seriously, would you really want a parent who censored all modern anime. Would a kid really truly enjoy king of the hill, and not because his parents told him to?

I would die for an animation enthusiast parent. I wish I could have watched all the disney movies as a kid or watch king and the mocking bird with my parents... but I don't think this dude is an animation enthusiast.

Plus his weird anal bead tail, WTF Quebec
>>
>>77915967
Holy shit man. I had to google the show and only got a minute and a half in. This is like a parody of children shows. The characters genuinely act and speak in such an overly friendly tone that it gets uncomfortable.

My dad didn't like us kids watching it, and I won't like it if my kids watch that shit either. He was a shit to everyone and physically harmed his sister worse than author's "I told you not to touch it"

My kid will be fully indoctrinated. They will only be allowed to consume media that I deem worthwhile.

My father strongly opposed the watching of Disney films when I was little. Said they were bad for the brain.
Took me to see Demolition Man at the theater for my 9th birthday.

Well, at least he had SOME taste.

I still don't know how to work the 3 seashells.

>>
>>77916706
yeah, it was odd. Not sure the Disney thing was necessary, but I do appreciate the classic movie matinees he'd take me to. Our old local little movie theater would do shit like have Heston week, or Kurosawa week. I think I watched Throne of Blood somewhere around the same age. responding "Yojimbo" as a child could get complicated when someone asked what my favourite movie was, I think I started just saying "Batman" for the sake of it.
