Gillen does fucking Cyclops tier work on Vader. He understands the character and exploits something I haven't questioned when I was watching EMB, like, yeah, how come Vader became new Tarkin? Death Star was blown on his watch. It was nothing particularly important to the movie, there were better things to talk about, but getting coverage of Vader's rise to power is a good thing.

But I think the primary problem with the scene, at least for some people, is that it lessens the impact of Luke and Vader's first meeting in ESB.

I don't see what's so bad about Leia being a master of combat. When we first see her, she's a leader of the Rebel Alliance at 19 years old. I would assume she knows how to defend herself. She was more than capable as a fighter in all the movies.
