Correction: You find him boring, and you wanted to let people know so they can validate your opinion for you.

We're out of ideas.

People blame the SJWs and shit, but really it's just grasping at straws these days.
>>
>>77836210

It's more that most people want to take them super serious.

Look at this page. No one at any point expected it to be taken as a serious piece of work and that's why it's so great.

Catchphrase the character. He and MJ should meet up and see who's more vapid and who can spew more shitty catchphrases.

Camp doesn't sell in 2015. At least not this kind of camp.

>inb4 grimdark meme

No one cares. No one wants Silver Age wacky nonsense anymore in the mainstream.

Thats pretty based.
>>
>>77836119
He was fine in the 70's.

But now he's just a bald generic black man.
That's what happens when you want to have a black character but refuse to hire a black writer, no risks are taken.
He's as bad as Miles.

They need to capture that Blaxploitation vibe in the same way that Jessica Jones went for a P.I. vibe with the music and the narration.

I think it helps that the bad guy is another black guy, Cottonmouth.

The set pics have modern clothing, the showrunner also did Ray Donovoan and Southland, so I'm not sure what kind of style he's known for.

I wonder if Luke Cage: Noir will be an influence?
>>
The show actually made me really like Luke, and I'm actually excited for his show now.

On another note, WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH HIS CHIN IN THAT PHOTO?! It's like the jacket is going through his chin!
>>
>>77836119
What does that have to do with netflix garbage you goon? Luke Cage is also boring because for 10+ years he's been tied up in Avengers garbage and someone's father and husband when he shouldn't be

Not in costuming, no. I mean, it's set during the modern day. But in other fashions...the music, for example. The camera work.

Like how Jessica Jones kept using racking focus on establishing shots, like a P.I. focusing in on an important detail.

Why is modern day Luke so boring?

How can we make him more like the Luke from 40 years ago?
>>
>>77837341
We can't, that would be considered racist. It wouldn't make much sense anyways, considering black men are pretty different today compared to back then

You don't
Bendis' influence, Avengers shit and now Netflix have made him unsalvageable without any return to the original charcater being seen as an immense regression because of his definition being warped by most books from the past ten years shaping him a certain way in popular events and titles.

>>77837362
He wasn't just some jive talking nigger despite what Mcduffie wanted you to believe

Luke Cage was just a guy from a bad background and did bad things who decided to go straight and then got framed for his past. He got powers and busted out, reinventing himself as "Luke Cage", a hero for hire, to both do good with his new power and to keep himself fed and clothed. He's not going to stop you from being mugged and then give you a bill if you're just some poor sap, Cage will just save you and make sure you're ok before going on his way. He walks around in costume at all times unless he's on a date or something, so you know to go for him if you need help and it's urgent. You only need to pay him if you have something specific you want him to do and you go to his office to formally hire him
>>
>>77837362

Isn't that statement itself racist?

At least bring back burnstein.

I've liked X-men and Wolverine Noir so far. Is this worth reading?
>>
>>77837341
He was always at his snarkiest when bantering with Jessica, in the miniseries. Make his interactions with Misty Knight a bit like that: old friends, used to taking jabs at each other. Maybe suggest he was a bit of a ridiculously-dressed reckless jackass back in the day, before the bar (or even before prison). Show the bad stuff he had to do in prison, in a flashback. When Iron fist turns up, have Cage play straight-man to his crazy bullshit, but have Iron Fist bring out his fun side a bit more, too.

>It's more that most people want to take them super serious.

There's nothing wrong with trying to make something good and you're retarded for thinking.
This is the same as "the quality of kids' movies don't matter because they're for kids".

He ruins everything he touches.
>>
>>77838238
There's no place for that Luke Cage anymore. Everybody's an Avenger now, every character is a hot shot who knows everybody else in the biz. Luke Cage can't be one of the little guys because Marvel heroes aren't that anymore
>>
The Thunderbolts storytime that's been going on has Luke Cage and he's not boring in it.
I don't know why people call him boring. I like him.

MCU Luke Cage is a small-time hero.
>>
>>77836272
why the fuck is calling someone black even racist these days? We're getting to unreal levels of assclenching
>>
>>77836083
He was pretty great in Jessica Jones. They did the character right. A calm, 2cool4u black man who's more teddy bear than he is a fighter.

I was expecting some kind of racial propaganda or race war shit to go down but he's not at all like that. They couldn't have done it any better in my opinion. In the modern comics i've read that he was in, he was literally the exact same in the show
>>
>>77836551
>>77836569
any comics I should read for Luke Cage before the Netflix show comes on? Preferably modern ones, but if there are any really based old ones, I'll do it
>>
>>77836707
bad photoshop job, it's an easy but stupid mistake. He probably just used the quick selection tool and somehow didn't see he accidentally selected his chin
>>
>>77838985
I haven't read much Luke Cage either but Luke Cage Noir was pretty good.
>>
>>77836280
>No one wants Silver Age wacky nonsense anymore in the mainstream.
If anything, "fun", vapid wackiness is the biggest cancer in comics right now.
>>
>>77838947
Luke Cage is literally the baddest motherfucker in Jessica Jones. Gets a shotgun to the fucking face and walks it off later. Has a bratty white girl hanging on his dick and then he peaces out because "fuck all this Doctor Who shit"
>>
>>77839206
The new SO DARK SO KILLY SO RAPEY of the 80's and BLOOD AND POUCHES of the 90's eh?

If anything, the success of GoG and failure of Mos says you're wrong.

>>77836272

Tom King can do anything. I have faith in our savior.

He can even salvage Jason Todd AND Tim Drake if he put his heart and soul into it. I believe in him.

That $100 could be around $150, now.
