The superhero no-killing code is just Comics Code Authority enforced on all characters, which had a loophole of allowing the "killing" of undead critters who weren't alive to begin with. Even the more-boyscout-than-supes Cap was willing to take down vampires.
When really, you'd think the characters who legitimately held a no-killing morality would see that killing a vampire was killing a sentient being, "undead" or no. "But all they do is kill, they have no redeeming qualities" you might say. Well then, those same heroes should be ok with removing the Joker and a host of other DC loons from the planet, but oh no, "life itself is sacred", forget what is being done with that life.
