It's primary purpose is definitely fapbait, and although it's no Shakespeare you can definitely see it's got a little bit more on its mind than just jerking it. There's a lot of really funny moments, and the girls' crazy biology is often treated like an embarrassing "condition" that they have to learn how to fit in with. It's not an issue of realism just an issue of flow. It's most noticable whenever Yang fights but there is a distinctive pause where you can tell that the animator decided it was time for one character to stop attacking and one to start.
There's also the issue that to service the rule of cool the fights are visibly slowed down and the characters wiff in ways that is just glaringly obvious and annoying.
Take Yang's fight with Arslan. She entered the fight hit, head, head midsection that doubled Arslan and then threw a high kick.
The fight scene stuttered as the two wiffed at each other and it made no sense. It was obviously to seperate the two but it was so shittedly done.
An upper cut or knee that Arslan rode or blocked would have been so much better.

Faunus genes could be recessive (at least by the understanding Miles and Kerry have of genetics) where you need both chromosomes for the genes to express themselves. Actually, it could technically work, but feel like that sort of gene expression would be very unlikely to develop.

RoosterTeeth use to host all their videos on blip.tv
The thing about Blip.tv is that the video id was numerically ordered. So YouTube has "dQw4w9WgXcQ", but Blip.tv had some hidden XML files that were just numbers, so it was easy to just "brute-force" search for videos uploaded by RoosterTeeth.
Had a scanner that basically searched through the new uploads on Blip until it found a video by RT, and then displayed it on a web page.
Was pretty nice having episodes before sponsors.
Then they moved RWBY off of blip, and now Blip is dead anyways.

But it's super unlikely for that kind of adaptation to develop through evolution.
