ITT: brilliant satire
>>77731432
Holy shit, I never even noticed, but that's an actually published comic?
I always thought it was a webcomic, this just makes it better.
>>77731465
it got humphries a job at marvel so he can write instant classic comics like this
>>77731432
Satire of what?
>>77731672
I've always seen it as a satire of both the right wing "we let the queers marry what's next!" mentality, but also a satire of the left wing "everyone should have the right to free love" mentality which is why someone being in love with a mineral is played so straight and still feels incredibly silly and over the top.

That's Humphries for you, and that's his biggest flaw as a writer. He does this and doesn't realize it.
It's like his Ultimates. they asked him if President Captain America was supposed to be a parody in the vein of a 80s action movie, but no, he said it was supposed to be serious.
Wait, this thing is supposed to be taken seriously?
>>77731818
Can we just believe that that's apart of the joke?
>>77731714
>I've always seen it as a satire of both the right wing "we let the queers marry what's next!" mentality, but also a satire of the left wing "everyone should have the right to free love"
I'm not really sure how it can be a satire of both of those mentalities, if you parody one aren't you kind of supporting the offer by default?
>>77731818
That's disappointing, I always saw his Cap just a satirical as Millar's. Especially the scene where he just flies out with the flag and gets shot down. Now it just seems retarded.
>>77731523
you faggots are never gonna live this down are you?
>>77732075
Personally I never understood what was wrong with that page.
>>77731916
Life's a been more grey than that, anon. It's not always either or.
>>77733248
See, that would imply that this is in fact a satire arguing in favour of a centrist compromise position, which is usually fiendishly difficult to do and even good authors can easily get wrong. So it's much easier for me to believe that this was serious.
>>77731946
You talking about this one?
>>77733385
>>77733414
That's the one. I'm scared to read this run again now that I know none of it was intentional
>>77732187
/co/ liked GOTG. Star-Lord solo comes out. Said solo references popular movie based off of GOTG. /co/ has a shit fit forever.
>>77733329
It's so obviously satire. Even the title, "Our Love is Real", is taking the piss.
>>77731946
It makes it even better if it's for serious.
>>77733414
when i read the first line i tought of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9V3d9_TGzk
>>77731523
>mfw my favorite comic property is just a meme delivery system now
>>77733517
>Our Love is Real
>Our Love Isreal
WHAT DOES IT MEAN
>>77733385
oh god, I've forgotten about Ultimates' Scooty Puff Jr.
>>77733455
It's important to mention that only the trailer with Hooked on a Feeling was released at this point.
>>77733455
the ironic thing is that /co/ doesn't make a shit fit when other stuff like the animated series go full retard with the movie. It's just bad when Humphries does it.
>>77733880
I honestly thought it was worse with TAS because that was the FIRST FUCKING THING YOU SEE
>>77733669
That's where he got it. Humphries is a massive rapfag
>>77731916
Not necessarily. One can be smugly condescending to "both" sides of an issue while basking in their own neutrality without actually having a coherent position to support. It's called the golden mean fallacy.
In this case, however, it's clearly supporting one side of the issue even if it pretends not to. Equating free marriage to bestiality is an extremely conservative stance which overlooks some crucial, obvious differences between them.
>>77733880
The Animated series also draws from the DnA stuff and older cosmic stories, also they seem to be ignoring the current Bendis and Humphries stuff for now (because they added that corrupt Cat Nova from the Loeb Nova run).
Also /co/ is mostly ignoring the cartoon so that's mostly why they don't complain about it.
>>77735586
So if Humphries makes references to DnA then all is forgiven?
You people are such tools.
>>77733455
For me it's less of a movie reference that made me roll my eyes and more of Kitty ooga chakaing in a peanut butter jelly time banana costume was the thing that scared the big bad and allowed Star-Lord the opportunity to get the upper hand.
>>77735662
the bad guy being a dumb as fuck Badoon
>>77733676
>complaining about meme delivery systems
>on 4chan
Should he?
>>77731523
god that issue sucked. what a fucking nothing adventure
>>77733676
Be careful what you wish for.
>>77731523
>>77732075
>>77732187
>>77733455
I will give you that /co/ is a whiney baby faggot about whatever is popular, but that image is awful and never going to die because its everything wrong with the Bendis/Humphries GotG in one panel.
>Kitty
Kitty Pryde and Peter make no fucking sense. She's been in space like 3 times. 1st time was for horrific reality warping M'Kraan crystal and phoenix bullshit. 2nd time was horrible brood pregnancy and colossus leaving her for a hormonal alien slut. 3rd time was to Whedon's run that ended with her trapped for years alone in a space bullet. Kitty should fucking hate Space, it always ends fucking awful for her. Just fucking awful. But she's here because she's Bendis waifu. That would excusable if she brought something to the team or they told interesting stories with her but she's a characterless void.
>Banana suit
It doesn't make sense for Kitty who kind of stuck up and doesn't have a great sense of humor. It doesn't make sense in the comic. She just hs to surprise some badoon through a hologram. It serves no purpose for the reader or the character.
>ooga chaka
This is just emulating the movie to emulate the movie. Its hard to say what made it funny in the trailer, but by the time the comic rolled out the joke was stale. It's offering new readers something familiar from the film. But its so cringey. It displays how little Bendis/Humphries understand humor and people
>>77739617
>about Kitty
>I don't read comics and I don't know Kitty but she's not muh waifu with Peter so fuck her
>about Banana suit
>I literally think the costume was meant to be funny in universe.
>about ooga chaka
>It's bad when Bendis and Humphries does it. I don't read comics so I think Bendis does it as well.
All your reasons are shit and the prefect example of why /co/ is a cancer that never reads comics.
