I actually found out about this movie years ago during wiki binging and thought it sounded terrible back then as well. Like We're Back, but without the fucked up subplot about taking nightmare drugs and joining a circus in hell. That scene where the ringmaster gets annihilated by crows is horrifying still.
Uh, anyway, most of this thing seems creatively bankrupt anyway, or way too safe to be anything interesting. Inside Out had a similar issue where it was ground down to a smoother plot, at the expense of interesting ideas and concepts. I feel like Pixar is getting to a point where their movies are being made by Committee instead of being an artist's vision.

To be fair, Randall DID try to kill Mike and Sulley in the original movie so I'd say he was always villainous. Hell, compared to his role in MI, if anything I'd say Pixar made him way more nicer than he should've been in University. I saw it described as "subtle" in a TV ad tonight. One of those ads that throws a bunch of words people have used to describe the film. That's not really a good word to flash on the screen and can easily be used on to describe any shitty movie. Who knows? Maybe it is a highly subtle film that may seem as boring to the layman, but to the elite this is the cinema at it's highest. You just don't get it.
