Todd McFarlane and Erik Larsen are teaming up for art and writing duties on Spawn. Anyone looking forward to it?

only because they're reuniting Al and Wanda in hell.
>>
I wanted to read Spawn after finishing HBO's cartoon, but got it backloged
>>
Didnt they just introduced a bold-new creative team and direction in #250?
McFarlane is actively killing any interest in Spawn with this kind of editorial.

Also, how the fuck can Larsen keep up with pencilling two monthlies?
I give it 4 issues max, before they announce a new artist.

Or have both books be a crossover event

yea, that could work too...
>>
Spawn is a yawn.
>>
>>77616536

They should take it right back to the same type of feels from Spawn #1, good times.
>>
>>77616536
What the fuck? When how, and why did Spawn go full Venom?
>>
>>77616536
WHY IS THIS STILL GOING
>>
I honestly didn't even know Spawn was still around. Last I knew he was replaced with some other guy.

I think it's more like McFarlane and Larsen collaborate on art instead of just doing one job.

Yeah there were like several false starts or something. Like at one point Grant Morrison was rumored to be involved, Paul Jenkins was involved, and Brian Wood was involved.

I know Al Simmons mega-died or whatever (he might have finally gone to Heaven or something, I don't know), and then they replaced him with another guy in, like, the post-apocalypse or something.

#1-100 was alright - retarded, definitely, but enjoyable enough. Everything past that, I'm not so sure.

Also even assuming there's delays, it wouldn't be the first time either book got heavily delayed.
>>
>>77619198
technically you could ask the same question about Spider-Man, Deadpool, Hellboy etc... as a character/creation Spawn isnt any less interesting than most other comicbook heroes, he just needs a decent creative-team.

Larsen will pencil and McFarlane will ink Spawn, while Larsen will also pencil AND ink Savage Dragon.

I usually think of Indie comics having the same writer throughout most of the story, while Big 2 ones are obviously going to alternate throughout time. And I usually think of Indie comics having a definitive end in the future, not going on for over 200 issues. I guess that's just me, though.

Image was never supposed to be an Indie publisher, they wanted to become the Big 3. So you cant really compare an early Image creation like Spawn how modern creator-owned indie-titles work. Also its not unusal for "Indie titles" to have 200+ issues: Cerebus the Aardvark, Usagi Yojimbo, Savage Dragon...

The genre shift with the new guy was actually really entertaining. The best Spawn has been in years. Shame that tenure ended.

Spawn is my porn.

I love the HBO show. It was how I was first introduced to Spawn and McFarlane. I used to love staying up late at night on the weekends and watching it with my best friend when it was first airing.

Probably not something elementary school age kids should do, but whatevs.

Image is the third biggest comic book company in America, so I guess they're in the big three. Also, I only started getting into comics a year or two ago, so I'm still kind of a pleb.

Spawn has pretty much been Venom, with some sprinkles of Spider-Man and Batman since issue fucking #1.

I'm assuming you're talking about the visible mouth, though, which has been around for about 10 issues now.

Pretty much. It looks really bad, because it makes him look even more like a knockoff of all those things you listed.
>>
>>77622187
to be fair, the guy who created Spawn also created Venom

Its like complaining that the Eternals look too much like New Gods knockoffs

Depends. What time is it? 2015? Then no.
