This poster (which I used to have up on my wall as a teen) is from 2007, a year before the MCU started, and 5 years before we get the first Avengers film.
It's interesting to see who's in the very front, and who's pushed to the back.
How different do you think this poster would be now?

Makes me wonder what exactly Marvel has to do to change the perception of a character in the public's eye. Having good stories (Remender) didn't work. Having him in a popular franchise (Avengers, GotG) didn't work. Having him in another media (Ultimate Spider-Man animated series) didn't work.

Venom came along in a time when not only comics where pretty popular but also when the green goblin, Venom was written in away in wich he manages to find out petes identity but use it in a creative way that destincts him from the goblin, the fact that he also mirrored all of spidey's moves and played off alot on his quips made him loved among people, i liked Agent Venom but he still comes over as a placeholder for the eventual return to formula

I guess it's the same reason why the unknown characters are always the easiest to kill or change. Until you shake the world, nobody cares. I guess it also works the other way around as the movie proved to be the Guardians of the Galaxy's downfall forever. No matter how serious they try to be from now on, they will always be under the shadow of the eventual back to the "outlaw comedy band" status quo.

I'd say Flash has been plenty memorable, until recently. This nonsense with putting him on the Guardians has really killed any hope for him, though. I've loved nearly every appearance he's made before then. Damn shame too, hasn't Bendis written Gargan Venom before? I THINK that's Scatlet Witch near the frost giant at the back, though I can't find that specific piece of art, and that's definitely Emma Frost next to Venom, which oddly makes them the only two mutants on the poster I think. Pretty transparent that they're only there to pad out the number of female characters though.
Also the only characters that debuted in Fantastic Four included are ones that have been in Marvel Studios films.
I believe this was explained as being related to Marvel not owning the merch rights to those characters somehow, but it makes me curious how the rights work then. How is Ronan not an FF character? Why are Spider-Man characters allowed? How is Emma Frost there as the sole X-Men character? Why do they have both regular Venom and Agent Venom?

A majority of those people probably haven't picked up any of the comics Flash has been in. Whenever a different character takes over, there's always not muh. Never understood how it was once so easy for DC to make legacy characters out the ass for everyone except Batman, Superman (though the two of them have been replaced from time to time, but it never lasts) and Wonder Woman, but Marvel can't get away with that at all.
Suppose it's mostly because lately all of these legacy characters are poorly written.
