Discovery left it for dead when they rebranded The Hub to Discovery Family
I kind of wish Starz picked it up for Starz Kids and Family, since they own the show
It was cancelled to make room for more ponies.

I don't think any episodes were actually aimed at kids, it feels like writers just did a thing and then someone came along and edited out the most outrageous things.
Although they did skip Dan being raped by bears, referring to prison rape multiple times, and, my favorite, calling Elise a filthy whore on screen.

Overall, this. Wolf-Man was pretty good, but most of the other brilliant episodes were the ones where Dan has issues with normal things (baseball preempting his favorite show, LA traffic jams, Chris becoming obsessed with golf, etc) and just blows it out of proportion.
When it started delving too much into sci-fi territory is often when I was less entertained.

In a way, if the show's not gonna get renewed, I wish they'd at least officially cancel it, because then the Facebook page says we get all sorts of fun stuff, like full scripts and deleted scenes and whatnot. Since it's stuck in limbo, they aren't allowed to release any of that.

They did. When the Hub got bought out, Discovery released a list of all the shows they were chopping and Dan was on there.as were the Aquabats ;_;

I think the fact it was an adult show that had to pretend to be a kids show is what helped to make it so good.
Making it animated instead of live action also helped, by letting them be more creative.
