Has it ever been explained how Spider-Man retracts his web lines like a grapple at times? Or how he can control the way the webs come out, like how sometimes it's a web line, sometimes as a net web, sometimes as globs/balls etc etc

Soopa sci-fi web shiiters
>>
>>77474408
If they are superior organic web shooters, it can all be explained by muscle control.
>>
How does Peter even shoot? It's not like you see him press any button or anything.

He pulls a lever

While it would explain things easily, I personally don't like the idea. I like how the web shooters show Pete's intelligence

How does Spidey shake hands?
>>
>>77474517
Showing him using just web shooters when he could build jet packs and stun guns just as easily is hardly a display of intelligence.
>>
>>77474509
Eh, weird. I guess it is a button not a leaver, I always imagined he has to pull it back to shoot. Also I still don't really get the retraction thing, like when he sucks the lines back in to pull shit or himself upward quickly
>>
>>77474548
He never does that.
>>
Are his spider powers preventing his carpal tunnel?
>>
>>77474559
He does it all the time, I'm watching ASM2 atm and he does it which is why it made me think about it plus you could do it in the old Spider-Man games, and I can't post anything off the top of my head but I think I recall him doing it in some comics
>>
>>77474585
Your basing this on ASM2? A movie so bad it killed the franchise. It doesn't have to make sense since its a shit movie.
>>
>>77474530

Normally.

He only shoot webs when he extends his pinkie and index fingers.

You never saw Spiderman before, right?
>>
>>77474585
You're telling me you've never seen Spider-Man shoot webs at some out of reach object, only to pull it towards him by retracting the web?

Either I'm insane, or this is fairly commonly done by him
>>
>>77474757
Meant to quote >>77474720
>>
>>77474757
I've never seen him "retract" a web, I've seen him pull the web to bring the object back.
>>
>>77474838
Idk man a lot of times it seems as though he propels forward super fast after shooting a webline too without so much as pulling his wrist let alone his arm back
>>
>>77474530
In the 90s cartoon, Peter explains that although it's a relatively small pressure for him to exert on the lever, it's too much for a non-powered human to activate the launcher with one hand. The lever is also too stiff and pressure-sensitive to go off when he's handling larger items like a pillar or construction beam in his hands. I think he goes over the strength requirement again when he gifts MJ her own set of launchers disguised as jewelery for her birthday/anniversary.

I've always assumed that was animators/producers saving money on extra frames or being idiots that try to adapt the action without understanding the source material.

I'm more surprised that people haven't noticed how good of a heat insulator the webs are. They expand a great deal from their original liquid form in the cartridges, but no common mook has ever complained about being cold when they get webbed up.
>>
>>77474539
You should really check out the new ASM series.
>>
>>77474530
It takes a quick double tap with his super strength to shoot it.
>>
I had a Spider-Man annual in the 90s that said that his webshooters have an adjustable nozzle, so he can adjust his web from a line for swinging to a glob or to a web net - presumably he can swicth between them using something like the pressure pad

Bearing in mind of course that this was a book written specifically for kids nearly 20 years ago, so that could all be bullshit
>>
>>77474408

Anything where he pulls the web "back into the shooter" is just a visual error. I noticed this in ASM2 and it was horrible, because in some scenes the webs dont even semi-permanently stick to anything. Like the car door, it attaches and unattaches when he pulls back. Thats not how that works.

What is super strenght?

I like the idea that the panel he presses on is subdivided up like some of the keys of a sax so that he can access different types of web to shot.
>>
>>77475438
Super strength would still require him to move his arm, not the web being sucked back into the device pulling him forward like a grapple gun
>>
>>77474948
The webs are fireproof explicitly
>>
>>77474886
>>77475438
>>77475479

In air? Thats just momentum. From the ground? He's starting with a leap. Shoot a web for stability, jump into the air directionally, then in mid air adjust your grip and form a swing.

This is just laziness on the part of artists and you being retarded. His shooter does not pull the web back. Never did.

>>77475757
If spiderman never knew what bite him then without organic web shooters what would be his name?
>>
>>77474539
>shoots electro with a stun gun

Great plan
>>
>>77476378
Probably still spider-man

Even with ant-powers, Peter can invent webshooters
>>
>>77476461

Batman doesn't have Bat powers.
Captain America isnt a Captain.
Iron Man is made out of titanium and steel.
Cyclops has two eyes.
Catwoman doesn't act like a cat.
Nightcrawler isnt a worm.

But OH MY GOD SPIDER-MAN DOESNT HAVE REAL WEBS
>>
>>77474408

That's a topic put in the 'what the heck is Spidey's web line attached to off-panel never ever mention this' folder.
>>
>>77474408
Pressing the web-shooter's trigger in different ways changes how the web comes out. In later versions, like Ultimate Spider Man, the shooter has a display that shows Peter cycling through different web shots, like net, rope, parachute, etc.

Retracting is magic, probably

He doesn't.
It's purely artistic for our viewing pleasure, everyone else just sees a creepy, static, spider mask.
