alliance battle is a waves/survival mode
you fight a bunch of dark elves and occasionally big ice beasts
each kill you make increases your score
when you score enough you complete a wave and get a completion bonus at the end of the battle (it's escalating stuff like 3000 credits, 1 norn stone, 10,000 credits, clear tickets)
your daily score contributes to the overall alliance ranking for a week

Alliance battle is a "survivor" mode, you kill mobs and stronger mobs until they get stupidly strong and they kill you, it's very fun and the more points you get, the better are your rewards -and of the whole alliance- so even if you don't last long, still play it, because well it's an alliance thing and everyone will get rewards at the reset.
Team-up puts you to play with others players, each controlling one character in a team of 3, killing one buffed up boss, you have 5min to kill him for some rewards that can be from meh to great, having VIP is hella nice here because you get more rewards.

I've just gotten 6 5* characters, I'm farming 5 of them on their way to 6* (gonna be a while on that, of course; the closest is just under halfway there), and meanwhile I'm getting multiple teams up to 40 to join the 3 3* I have there (one group's at 37 so I should still do okay at Battleworld)

You know you SAY that, but at the lower levels, 2 extra stars and sometimes even one still makes a HUGE difference. I was fighting a black cat with one extra star at a few levels below me and a reverse element. Normally it'd be a breeze, but she nearly killed yj.
But you wouldn't know that unless you were fighting at lower levels and not just stomping on lower levels with your 6* level 60 ultron.

Oh I got the stark stash and have the crystals to spare. But I need to keep enough incase Angela ever gets a x100 bios sale, along with always wanting to have a spare 750 incase a costume I really want shows up/gets re-released, so that's like 2000 crystals that I need to have on stock at all times just to be safe. Fuck getting caught with my pants down and having to resort to paying for the non-stark stash crystal bundles which are insanely overpriced.
So one costume, not a problem. Two costumes and I'll go below my safe zone.
