I want into Judge Dredd, any advice how to, /co/?
i've only played a couple of his games but i'm really interested in the story and his badassery now
>>77461357
In case you're still around, this might help.
>>77465153
You dropped the ball, Judge. This is your job here.
>>77465770
Plz no send SJS to my house.
>>77465770
Comicbooks are illegal!
Start the way I did, with the Judge Child Quest, then read The Apocalypse War, then America
Call me Kenneth.
Start there and keep going.
>>77461357
Ignore any of the fucking recommendation pictures.
Just get the complete case files and start reading in chronological order.
OP here, thanks /co/, i'll get the complete case files and read in chronological order then, seems like the reasonable thing to do, hopefully there's a torrent around or something
>Judge Dredd vidya
What? When?
>>77473930
There's been a couple of them, actually. Picked this one up last year andIt's ok.
>>77461357
Start with the Complete Case files, you'll get a bunch of his comics in one big collection. Try for number 3 or 4 first, I think 3 is the one with the judge child arc and has Un-American Graffiti in, plus sillier stuff like Otto Sumps ugly empire. They're a great place to start so really just grab any of em and if you like what you're reading, get more of em.
>>77474040
As someone who recently started out on Dredd I'd say don't start with Case Files #1. A lot of the stories seem atypical for the series and some of the art isn't great.
>>77474007
Also the Dredd vs Zombies app game. Considering rebellion are primarily a game studio it's surprising they haven't done more with Dredd and the other 2000ad characters.
>>77475496
Sniper Elite X Judge Dredd when?
>>77474007
Looked up a compilation of the game. Holy fuck, it seems awesome.
>>77475794
It has its moments, but it can also get very repetitive after a while.
>>77475496
They had a podcast with the president of Rebellion and owner of 2000AD last week. He'd like to do a Cursed Earth game, all open world. Dude's a fan of post apocalyptia.
>>77461357
Do what I did and start at the very first prog. I'm a completionist, though.
>>77476405
is this the guy who did those Judge Karyn stories?
>>77476875
>Do what I did and start at the very first prog
kek.
Nah mate, Dredd doesn't start till prog two funnily enough, i recommend just torrenting the case files, they miss out a few things but not much.
>>77475794
My father played a lot of the game, I was to small to understand the controls but I remember him arresting fatsos and them saying things like "Ok but when do we eat" or something like that.
I've always remembered this...I'd love to find the game again.
>>77477324
its on steam for like a quid or two matey
>>77477359
OH SHIT thanks senpai!
>>77461357
Start with the original greek comics.
>>77466286
>the don't send SJS
>they sendSJW instead
>>77476405
I haven't got round to last weeks podcast yet, that sounds awesome.
>>77477530
>Start with the original greek comics.
What are you talking about?
>>77477246
Looks like Mike McMahon art to me.
I don't think he's done anything with Karyn
>>77477495
glad ta help.
>>77479252
Not him then i just remember a couple of stories that had heavy block black and white artwork, looking at it tho that definitely some late McHahon.
>>77479503
Hmm, D'israeli maybe? Or if it was definitely Karyn in 2000ad then it was Charlie Adlard
>>77461357
Somebody post shirtless dredd
>>77479252
>Spikes Harvey Rotten riding proud and supporting his bro Dredd
Never forget. He wasn't just a punk, he was the greatest punk of all time!
>>77479760
Not so fast, creep. Code 13: Section 07, Disorderly Conduct.
That's one year in the Cubes for you.
>>77480266
Witness!
>>77473930
There was a cross platform Dredd game in 1995 that was based on the movie, by Acclaim, for Genesis, SNES, Game Boy and Game Gear. Of these the SNES version looks the least horrible.
And staying in videogames and Dredd, Mike McMahon drew a bunch of Sonic The Comic and Decap Attack strips.
>>77461357
I got into Dredd by reading Case Files 4, 5, and then reading the newer arcs from Origins onwards. You could just read Case Files 5 and watch the Karl Urban movie, then pick whatever you fancy.
>>77480381
Oh come on Judge
>>77476405
There is some interesting stuff on the thrillcast like the Garth Ennis (dislikes his Dredd, loves war comics) and Ezquerra interviews, and then stuff with Henry Flint and Colin McNeil. It seems to be something of a secret, given the low listening figures on Soundcloud. No sign of Wagner unless I missed something?
And back to videogames and Dredd - I forgot about the poor lightgun game for the PS1. That was a missed opportunity. Imagine what somebody like Namco could do with a G-con game like Time Crisis, but in MC1.
We all know this is coming out right? Hardback, colour spreads, and the 4 previously unpublishable Green Giant/McDonalds episodes. This would be a great introduction to Dredd for new readers because it's one of the earlier epic arcs.
>>77480266
Spikes was the best, part of me wishes he hadent died, but if he hadent he wouldn't have never gotten such an epic epitaph
>>77482191
Anybody interested in 2000ad's history and creators should definitely check out the Thrillcast.
There is also Everything Comes Back to 2000ad for a fan perspective
>>77482105
Disagreeing with a judge. Let's call that another six months, care to make more creep?
>>77483966
Judges are worse than hitler. Screw you.
>>77484058
Control send a catch wagon to the corner of Trump and Carson. Citizen sentenced to 12 months for disorderly conduct plus another 18 for lip. Better search his apartment for band literature too. Creep knows way too much about 20th century history.
>>77461357
Anyone got a link for judge dredd comics?
>>77482191
> the poor lightgun game for the PS1
Cutscenes were GOAT

>>77482449
All dat glorious old school Mick McMahon and Bolland art...
>>77488735
Now I want a hamburger.
someone should do one of those hunger games threads just with Dredd girls.
>>77489419
I got your winner right here.
>>77489419
im game to do it if people supply me with pictures and character names
>>77489613
Ok, let's start with the basics.
Judge Anderson.
Judge Hershey.
AKA Best Chief Judge.
Galen DeMarco.
Former judge, current PI.
Judge McGruder.
RIP.
Judge Dekker.
Also RIP.
Judge Beeny.
Not dead yet!
Judge Bachmann.
Dead and good drokkin' riddance, scheming bitch.
Judge Exorcist Lamia.
Undead and loving it!
Judge Bonaventura.
Cursed Earth cutie.
Judge Kramer.
SJS.
Judge Janus.
Grant's little girl.
Judge Pax.
From East Meg Two with love.
Judge Buchan.
Scots with swords.
Judge DeGaulle.
Not a friend of Dredd's.
Judge Karyn.
Psi-ay-ay.
>>77489963
is it bad i genuinely like the Janus strips? Inferno sucked but the rest was good.
anyway we got a shit ton of judges, how bout some civ's and perps?
I put fourth Sister Despair
Judge-Inspector Inaba.
Our woman in Hondo.
Treasure Steel.
Brit-Cit Choco.
>>77490094
Nah, Janus is a pretty fun character. And her stories are still way better than Morrison's Dredd, that's for sure.
Also, feel free to add on. I still got a few more judges to go through.
Anyone know where I can download the Complete Case Files after 20? I'll do the time I just can't take it anymore.
Durham Red counts right?
Judge Maitland.
Accounts.
>>77490167
Unfortunately, she has never crossed over into Dredd's world. But if you're aching for a bloodsucker, we can always use the alt dimension legal loophole to bring in Vampire Hershey.
>>77490242
Proof that that terrible future wasn't all bad.
Colonial Marshall Judge Lawson.
Or is she?
Im taking the kovaks pic from earlier in the thread and putting forward a Blondel Dupree
Judge Hamida.
/pol/'s worst nightmare.
>>77490262
The fact that there's never been a Vampire Hershey/Durham Red team-up proves we're not in the most perfect of realities.
Judge Aimee Nixon.
Wally Squad. Dead twice.
>>77490303
was there ever any controversy over the character when she was introduced JA? i wasnt reading dredd when she was created,
Judge Zheng.
More new psis!
>>77490317
Was Encadaleus a joke on frost nixon?
Nausea.
Sister of Death.
>>77490352
Nah, not really. At best there was some light rumbling about how hard Emma Beeby was being pushed as THE FIRST WOMAN TO EVER WRITE DREDD EVER EVER, which was mostly true, but the stories themselves weren't that bad. Just middle of the road stuff.
>>77461357
Does anyone got the picture of dredd with just his pants pointing with a gun?
I can't found it and i need it for my judge dredd folder
Phobia.
Idem.
>>77490406
They totally made that pun in one of the covers. Also, Anderson/Shakta is my OTP.
Murd the Oppressor
>>77490495
tfw, im trying to convince my gf to cosplay either phobia or nausea next year

Judge Castillo.
Still has much to learn.
>>77490581
Godspeed.
Also, gonna take a break. How much we got left?
>>77489728
Why does she have a beard?
>>77490636
we got 22 spaces left
>>77490688
old age/mixed with insanity/several years in cursed earth
>>77490594
Thanks Judge Anon. That's the picture
Judge Toughshit
Xena Lowther
The Black Widow
>>77491201
fuck me, what story is this from?
JD has a surprising amount of competent female characters, wonder how it always goes under the radar for that? I read em so much I just take it for granted the Judges (male or female) tend to be damn good at their jobs unless it's some major threat that kills a bunch of em in one go to show how dangerous it is. It's kinda neat that the comic can do that so well.
Judge Thorpe
Vienna, she dead yet btw?
Miss Gunderson, im running low, someone back me up
>>77490547
That shit caught me off guard whenhe just up and kills Judge Dredd in the blink of an eye. You obviously knew he would come back, but fuck. Why the hell did he resurrect him? It's fucking Dredd.
the tumblrities
Judge Storm
>>77491559
Not yet!
Also, Blanche Tatum, AKA The Executioner.
>>77492223
5 spaces left, you got another pic for the executioner? its not liking the image
>>77492404
Panel 1 here any better?
Deputy Chief Judge Walsh, from the Emerald Isle.
Judge Kit Agee.
The Doorway.
Judge Salina Trace. Or rather, Judge Tomas Nary.
>>77492491
>>77490182
Missed Maitland
Ma-Ma, Henry Flint style? Or movie?
>>77490495
Got the unedited version of this two page spread? All known reprints split it into two separate pages

>>77492820
This is the best I can give you.
>>77492903

Oh boy,we're off to a rousing start.Oh Grud, I can't watch. Just... just tell me when Hershey cops it.
>>77492903
Place your bets now, My bets on Sister Dispair
>>77465153
>"/rs/"

>>77492971

>>77493171

>>77493358

>>77493358

>>77493988
>>77493938
Oh my, oh myyyyyy...
Also, Shakta, you slut.
>>77493988
How do you poison a robot?!?
>>77494068
Damn the sisters are in it for the kill
Also, the vampire kills the vampire
>>77494202

>>77486395
>the rubber chicken
>>77491810
Probably my most obscure waifu.
>>77485038
>Creep knows way too much about 20th century history
This is an offense in mega city?
>>77497003
Only Justice department approved historical texts are allowed. All pre atom wars media including films, comics, books and news papers are tightly controled or outright band
>>77497744
Why though? Or is it satire on fascist/totalitarian governments?
>>77497881
>Why though?
Atom Wars. Never forget. Except Do.
I like reading my comics in big chunks/whole story arcs at once. Has there been any notable big stories since the Cold Deck/Trifecta?
>>77497881
In world? The Judges need to push the idea that the pre war political systems were chaotic and corrupt. Any suggestion that things were better in the past could lead to dissent and a weakening of their control.
Outside of story it's a chance to mock moral crusaders and censorship. I especially like the idea that 2000ad is a banned publication because it's just too exciting for mega-city kids to handle.
>>77498225
There was Block Judge, which was a great big Wagner/Ezquerra story about Dredd and Beeny taking over a single block.
There was Dark Justice, the return of the Dark Judges, which was kinda lackluster but had gorgeous Greg Staples art.
And then there was Rob Williams and Henry Flint's Enceladus, which... could've been better. Lovely art, but holy shit the writing. Not a fan.
>all those Judge Waifus
oh my oh my.
>>77489753
>See you on the streets Joe.
>>77490182
Th-that's gotta be a breach of uniform regulations!
>>77499335
Great little moment, that one.
Though I still think if Ennis hadn't been enough of a Dredd geek to bring back two judges who'd barely been used since their original appearances, both Dekker and Perrier would probably still be alive.
>>77499342
The things you do when you're working undercover.
Also, that was before Henry Flint made the most amazing redesign for the accounts division's uniform.
