My only experience with it was getting a comics bundle as a present and finding an issue in it where they all have a huge sex orgy because they could die at any time. And some of the kids wanted to participate.

In hindsight, it was some weird shit.
It's a guilty pleasure for me, honestly. It's really kind of weird in some spots -okay, a lot of spots-, but given the time period it was made in, it was fairly progressive for its time without being too overbearing (from what I remember of it). And the lore/world-building was alright, but only if you kept to the core cast of characters and ignored the future-based shit.
It got kind of went OTT in later years. Wendy Pini's art has kinda gone down the shitter, too, but I think that's in large part to how atrociously colored her stuff is digitally, IMHO. If it was in a painterly style as opposed to flat colors with soft shading and gradients, it wouldn't look nearly as bad.
And iirc, the vast majority of the comic is free to read on the official website, so that's always an option to check out if you're curious.

What I loved the most about Winnowill was how unrepentant and genuinely evil she was. And I love that she never got any sort of redemption, too, and was straight up evil right to the end. Really wish there was more villainesses like her out there, man.
