On his episode with Chloe, he was more than willing to just ditch her and do his errands, whereas in Charlie and the snake he pretty much wants to have Grizz's permission to leave. Considering Chloe is supposed to be someone he likes (or at least doesn't dislike), it seems he does need his brothers (or just Grizz, at least) to keep him in check
