In Aladdin, if Genie's master made a wish that was not one of the three forbidden things, he HAD to do it whether he wanted to or not. So the binding rule is either that he simply couldn't grant the forbidden wishes or he couldn't refuse wishes that weren't, and at the same time had a strong objection to doing them.
