Why wouldn't they be? They are built stronger than Schwarzenegger was in his prime, and have plasma launchers, stealth tech, thermal vision, and low-tech hunting gear built out of material that can cut Aliens in half without getting a dent. And often they hunt in groups. And they have wrist mounted suicidal nukes.

Some 100 years before these stories happened the Aliens arrived to Earth (as saw in the 2 or 3rd movie, don't remember which one) and basically raped humanity.
After we get ourselves back on our feet a virus was created to erased the Aliens from memory, apparently the synths were blamed.
Point is, pretty much all colonies were lost so here humans are returning to the starts.

Pretty much the AVP comic universe incorporates all the Aliens, Predators, AVP and now Prometheus movies and almost all the comics into one universe.
Considering Resurrection is so far into the future with the Great Deletion and all that its just a rarely used plot idea only ever brought up when its a story post Resurrection.
Only things relating to the comics that don't exist in the ongoing AVP universe would be things like crossovers, the Aliens comic universe that spun off of Aliens with the aliens infesting earth, older Newt, Ripley looking for the alien homeworld and quite possibly the early Predator comics where they all kept going after Detective Schaffer (brother of Arnold's character in the movie who mysteriously disappears never to be seen again) who was dropping preds by the dozens

Because this is an "Alien vs. Predator" story, not a "Predator" one. Aliens are too often reduced to bitches just to make the Predators look better, and this comic takes it way too far, the predators reach mary sue territory. They are not badass if it's cheap.

With the way the aliens are treated in these stories (ie Predator's bitches / guinea pigs) creators may as well come up with an original species. Aliens need more respect. They are supposed to be smart, powerful and unpredictable, but this comic couldn't care less.

Its pretty established in the comics that when the preds are on a hunt for xenos they limit themselves on weaponry to put themselves on a more equal footing for the xenos but when they're in full not give a fuck mode or fighting into a xeno hive to take a queen they'll give no shits about using their most powerful weapons and settings and 15 to 30 of them can hold off an entire hive and capture a queen.
And as far as the intellegance of the Xenos are concerned Queens only look out for themselves and their eggs and soldiers are expendable cannon fodder to overrun an enemy or to sacrifice to save the queen

That's the problem, predators shouldn't be capable of overpowering aliens, and aliens shouldn't be canon fodder (the original was capable of resisting and surviving the vacuum of space) or stupid (they are supposed to be beyond our comprehension).
Aliens need to be dangerous to Predators, to the point of not being considered preys by them. If they are not, there is no point in making these comics; They should make Predator comics with an original secondary species.
