Squirrel Girl was never meant to be taken seriously in the comic world however someone at Marvel didn't get the memo and gave this series some shitty talent.

Ryan heard about this "nepotism" lark and decided to give it the old college try.

Erica pls.
>>
>>77392270

This, essentially. Even if the art weren't awful and the comic didn't cater to a non-comic-reading-demographic, it would STILL be shit because Squirrel Girl's character gimmick is premised on obscurity.

It's like if they tried making Longshot Saves The Marvel Universe into an ongoing.

I understand most fetishes here, and I try not to judge.

But what the fuck man? Women with Downs turn you on? That's sick

Awaiting the storyline where SQ and Co. are menaced by evil stereotypical nerds, who they defeat in an "enlightened" way with the assistance of le quirky nouveaux geeks, who are diverse to a hilariously tryhard extent to contrast the whitebread as fuck villains (who will also likely all be male, and if not there will probably be a benevolent twist regarding the ones who aren't).

They picked an artist who couldn't draw

I actually have no problem at all with the writing. I know /co/ whines about how it's webcomic-tier but I think it's legitimately amusing and even funny sometimes. I even like the alt-text.

Despite the perpetual "looseness" to her style, Erica CAN draw SG as cute instead of downsy, but she just doesn't for some reason. Nobody knows why.

I think it's so she can look like a squirrel face wise. That explains the shitty cheeks, huge nose, and weird eyes. I'd include the buckteeht, but it's in those designs so eh.

I like thick girls with buck teeth and short hair.

I did however look up retard porn a while back but couldn't find much.

>We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place you want to be and if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man. We have all seen this when we do arithmetic. When I have started a sum the wrong way, the sooner I admit this and go back and start over again, the faster I shall get on.

>There is nothing progressive about being pigheaded and refusing to admit a mistake. And I think if you look at the present state of the world, it is pretty plain that humanity has been making some big mistakes. We are on the wrong road. And if that is so, we must go back. Going back is the quickest way on.

And they did.
Her years GLA, with seeing more of her character in a fun setting and, and her time with the New Avengers, with seeing more of her character in a more serious setting, both times arguably sporting some character growth.
Which was all then sub-sequentially shat on in every possible you'd think could even be possible with this series. There is no character expansion in this series, if anything, it contracts her character.
The art is shit, the writing is shit, "we've" gone over this hundreds of times, but it actually kind of pains me what they've done to the character, and it sickens me that any complaints about this series are ignored because the people who have them can be generalized as or among the "rude whiners looking for anything to shit on".
Even ignoring New Avengers and how her character was put in a more serious and older setting, the way her character acts in her own book is like an immature child or a rookie. There's no semblance of her trying to be an actual hero and is more like an arrogant toddler told that they can't be beaten believing that everything they do is right with no real conflict against that belief. It tries to be funny and "current" but it only ends up being tasteless and old-hat, going for what can't even really be called cheap jokes. Sure, there's the argument that it's trying to be made for all ages, but that doesn't really excuse the poor quality.

Oh my goodness it's a sexualization thing. She does this on purpose so people cannot find her attractive. This is absolutely bonkers level SJW idiocy.
>>
>>77393393
Someone posted before that less detail is generally more visually attractive. Your pic doesn't have all the extra lines on her face.
>>

>>
>>77392086
The art is a bit crap. Which is a pity, because the writing is fantastic
>>
>>77392147

I think the subtle thing is how he cut off the feet. Erica can't draw feet to save her life and in>>77392086 its obvious she's hiding them whenever she can.

USG is really damaging the thought of web comic people ever making print comics.
>>
>>77394064
If you have you ask, you wouldn't understand
>>
>>77394149
I don't even think it's an all-ages title; sure, nobody's being eviscerated or swearing like a sailor, but the whole thing is made by and for 20-something hipsters who don't know any better.
>>
>>77395016
That wasn't actually my intention, to be honest. I just started doodling randomly, and when I noticed that their feet weren't gonna fit in the picture I just rolled with it, but if it works as a parody, that's cool, too. What I did find funny, though, is how she used the black void on the right as an excuse to completely ignore stuff like half the characters' bodies and proper composition. Wiccan is basically just a torso hovering a foot or so above the ground. Where's the rest of his arms? Where's the rest of Hulkling? Where are Coffee Holder's legs? Oh, well.

Why did they try to redeem a Nazi instead of killing him?
I mean, how often are you presented with the opportunity to say "I killed a literal Nazi" now-days? Not a lot.

Writing is similar to a web comic and the art is terrible

>>77393393
Ok this pisses me off. She can, but chooses not to.
>>
>>77396891
>Writing is similar to a web comic
Gee, it's almost like it's written by someone known for writing webcomics.
>>
>>77392086

Perhaps nothing.

I was about to write "It's too goofy", but is it really? Squirrel Girl's thing is that she doesn't like dark and edgy.
>>
>>77397366
There's nothing inherently wrong with goofiness, but USG isn't the kind of goofy you'd find in, say, a Tex Avery cartoon... it's more the goofiness you'd find in an episode of Johnny Test, except the Canadians who barfed that show out didn't pretend they were enriching their chosen medium. Also:

>ignoring the art
>ever
>seriously, what is wrong with your eyes

If it all looked like this, or had this level of personality, I'd be saving a copy each month.
As it is, the Down's syndrome style just puts me off.
Unless she's supposed to be Downs in this version I guess

Nah, one of the things this book "prides itself" in is that it got people to give the book to their kids and leading to them dressing like squirrel girl.
>>
>>77397366
>>77398252

She is goofy, true.

The thing is though, surrounded as she is by nothing but goofiness dilutes the trait.
She was always more interesting as the plucky, goofy hero who really truly believed in living up to the hero myth and somehow, in a world that was sometimes dark, remained a beacon of light who still managed to be victorious.

Occasionally that goofiness spreading was good for a laugh.
Remember the penitent puss?
But having be the sole trait to a comic makes it a less effective joke as they're telling it over and over and over.

I've always thought she'd make an excellent character for a brave and the bold/team ups series.
>>
>>77398885
It's like she's walking away with my dreams...
>>
>>77398953
... Huh. Not sure why you'd give your kids mediocre comics, when Tiny Titans and Marvel Adventures trades exist, but alright.
>>77399034
I remember one Anon suggested that the book could've been about Doreen's dorm/classmates trying to survive the inherent nonsense surrounding her alter ego.
