Tbh senpai, this is the first episode I've caught since watching the leaked pilot months ago. I was cautiously optimistic after that, but this episode is pretty dire, and doesn't seem to be hitting any beats that the pilot didn't already do. I enjoyed it. I like seeing them grapple the idea of legacy and what it means for Kara to find her own path while being in Superman's shadow. That's clearly the definition for the first season, and I think it works so far, even if it could be smoother.
I don't care for Kara/Jimmy romance drama, but it's not any worse than Barry/Iris early on in Flash.
Dialogue is still awkward, but making slow improvements. I want to hope that once it gets settled in it won't have to be as expositiony for the normies.
Cat Grant is still the standout character. For a show that could be total rah rah girl power friendship, I like that Cat is a powerful female figure who's also belittling Supergirl and basically impeding her narrative by controlling the publicity. It's not just men who are opposing Supergirl. And Cat just has great lines and delivery.
I hope Winslow actually starts doing more things soon. I'm sure he'll get more focus, especially once they introduce his dad.
