My reason? a competent male lead that isn't a cringefest buttmonkey. Also, because it's a fun lighthearted show not dragged down my the fandom that latched onto it like a darkhorse ensemble (yet), it is't weighed down by a sickening myriad of headcanons and wangst or anything like other shows, no pairing wars (though the people constantly bringing up Star x Jackie make me worry), and no one is constantly saying that it's the best show ever and you should watch it.

I agree that AT kind of sucks for that reason now. I don't watch it anymore but the first 3-4 seasons really felt magical to me. Each episode would introduce some weird character or place that was completely illogical but also somehow made perfect sense. I never found myself questioning the internal logic of the show. With Star I always have a feeling like a bunch of adults trying to be 'random' are writing it.
