It's great, and has held up considerably well over the years. The kind of show that really demands rewatches with all the context from later seasons and world-building. Plus, the characters are just down to earth and charming.
In comparison to most modern animated shows, I'd say it's not as pretentious and knows exactly what it wants to be without acting vague about it. It also doesn't try to mask the fact that it's a cartoon first and foremost, and doesn't attempt to incorporate real-life ideas or dialogue to make itself appeal to normies.

Here is a theory: If Mr. Warburton returned to Cartoonnetwork and pitched the idea of G:KND you think they'll easily say "Well, we knew you for a long time buddy, we have faith in this project of yours! Let's order a season of 16 episodes"? Nah, they'll most likely say "C:KND is old, the kids who grew up on it are adults, they won't remember and moved on, they don't care."
We can potentially make Galactic: Kids Next Door happen, this gives advantage for Mr. Warburton and can give Cartoonnetwork the reason to greenlit G:KND.
And, look at the effort Mr. Warburton put into G:KND; he reuninted the VAs, drew the storyboard, wrote the script, he was able and do that all by himself because he is passionate about Galactic: Kids Next Door.
I think Mr. Warburton doesn't want to use Kickstarter or anything because he doesn't want to ask his fans for money or anything.
