There was supposed to be a Pacific Rim cartoon.

It's pretty much burning in development hell right now.
>>
>>69683937
I've never even seen the Lorax. But this song is pretty fuckin' badass.
>>
>>69683937
What's the tone of the final movie?
I haven't seen it so i want to know how different it is from that video.
>>
>>69684010
It's supposed to lead into the second movie. It's not surprising that we haven't heard more yet.
>>
>>69683937
But that would make the movie a meaningful critisism of corprate greed and personal corruption instead of making money of punchline and preaching about pollution without suggesting normal people were responsible for it.
>>
>>69684148
>meaningful critisism of corprate greed
can you stop with this shit already
any time someone say corporate greed they have already said something meaningless
>>
>>69684090
Well, this is the song they replaced it with.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYmrPn1CnzY

This song plays as he first starts chopping down the trees, rather than as he first starts forming an actual company. This means less time is spent watching him actually disobey the Lorax.

The love interest is also confirmed to have been added in a later draft. Originally, Ted just wanted to be the first kid on his block to have a tree. The Thneedville demo shows this.

It's a mess. The whole thing is a design-by-committee jumble of what hollywood thpught was trendy. The Onceler is a scrawny beta hipster who only clear cut the forrest becuase his family was a bunch of greedy trailer trash who manipulated and guilt tripped into betraying the lorax in order to wash him of any actual resposibility for his wrongs. His downfall happens over the course of one song. The side plot is dreadful, and the ending is so trite and idiotic that it's insulting.

>>

The Once-Ler being a "scrawny beta hipster" is actually the one thing I liked about the movie. Making him likable hammers in the "THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU" message. However, adding in his family was a horrible, horrible idea. He should have decided to cut down the trees on his own.

Oh, come on. Kingdom of the Sun looked interesting, but The Emperor's New Groove is legitimately the funniest movie Disney has ever made.

I watched The Sweatbox the other day. I felt for the people who saw their work destroyed, but this is something that happens with a lot of movies, and often they're better for it. WALL-E originally would've had the humans go extinct and devolve into sentient blobs of Jello.

Of course, movies can be worse for it, too. I'm also one of the guys in this thread ranting about The Lorax.

They did it because they knew fangirls would be clamoring for merchandise of him. They couldn't actually make him evil because people wouldn't buy his t-shirts and toys etc. Sort of like how in Frozen the real villain was the EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE HERMIT DEMIGOD WHO LEAVES HER KINGDOM TO FREEZE AND DIE BECAUSE SHE WAS SCARED.

They honestly had no idea. He wasn't on any of the posters or home video box art. Ted was given more coverage then him. Hell, there IS no merchandise of the Once-Ler. Everything you've seen is fan-made.

I like that Tumblr has, for once, zeroed in on the one good part of an otherwise bad movie. They're more interested in fucking it than fixing it, though.

Speaking of compromise, this movie was set to make bank from the marquee value alone. There was no reason to neuter the story.

Are you a fucking huge company made up of utterly miserable overworked employees and several multi-millionares as majority shareholders?

Do you fucking love having an army of financial analysts and lawyers to help you avoid paying all taxes to your government and stash nearly all money overseas?

Do you love having those multi-millionaire shareholders then whine to the US public that their taxes are too high and that lower-class people need to start chipping in?

Then congratulations, you fucking live in America. Where every aspect of your life is calculated misery designed by the super-rich to make you fucking hate yourself but not want to rise up and promote a functional society. Fuck.

most of that stuff is handled by local and state government which accounts for 10% of my income.
police are overpaid here and firemen are volunteer, operating on a donation basis.
I'm incredibly happy they closed half the police departments in my county recently because all you would see is cops cars parked 2-5 in a row hanging out in a 7-11 parking lot or under a train station not doing shit.

lets not forget about state lottery which generates hundreds of millions of dollars on a weekly basis, but for some reason nobody actually knows where that money goes

I love that 20% of my paycheck gets pissed away on social security so I can pay for someone elses retirement and contribute to the national deficit even more

Well, as far as Raven goes, I feel like they changed her substantially (hence the comments in my post). Cyborg too, for that matter.

Anyway, overall I think the TTG redesigns are accomplished, more comical interpretations of the originals, which is exactly what I want for this show. Perhaps the underlying aesthetic which promotes those sensibilities is bland, but any meaningful change in that regard would have to be truly radical.

I hate when people use this as a good example of animation. This is a bad example of animation, you're just blinded by how pretty it is. Look at it in a more objective way:
>pencil
Just moving up and down. All you're doing is just taking the 'image' and moving it. Very minimal effort, anyone can do it with small knowledge.
>guy looking down to paper, hand moving as he's drawing
Very minimal movement.
>Guy shown again, moves head to side
Minimal movement, but the most out of that scene which isn't saying much.
>camera moves over woman
No animation at all.

You can give an illustrator this job and they could probably do it, despite not being trained in animation.

How does it not? Do tell me how minimal animation, which can be objectively seen, is a good example of animation? Look at it in another way: if you were to watch this scene only in its original pencils, would it look amazing? Of course not, because very minimal is happening and the technicalities are basic.

You'd think a person who fawns over the animation in Japan would at least post something from Redline.
