Anyway, overall I think the TTG redesigns are accomplished, more comical interpretations of the originals, which is exactly what I want for this show. Perhaps the underlying aesthetic which promotes those sensibilities is bland, but any meaningful change in that regard would have to be truly radical.

How does it not? Do tell me how minimal animation, which can be objectively seen, is a good example of animation? Look at it in another way: if you were to watch this scene only in its original pencils, would it look amazing? Of course not, because very minimal is happening and the technicalities are basic.
