I think they should use different voice actors for the first half. I took it as there being a significant time gap between Act 1 and Act 2.
It would sort of be a shame though because then Menzel wouldn't get to sing the two best songs in the musical (The Wizard and I, and Defying Gravity)

Broadway show adapted from novel, although the two are vastly different.
As previously stated, novel follows Elphaba from birth to death, has political intrigue, sex, drama, and a baby. There's also sequels although I haven't read them.
Wicked the musical follows Elphaba really from academy on and is more light-hearted with happy endings, but a touch of the political intrigue and racism from the books. In both Elphaba's actually kind of a good way with debatable methods.

The Tin Man was a Munchkin who fell in love with her paraplegic sister.
The Straw Man was her lover, Fiyero, whom she turned to straw when the Wizards goons were about to beat him to death.
But I don't think any of that happened in the book, or at least Wicked and Oz characters weren't connected in that way?

It has a lot of potential, but I feel like if they ever made one it would probably live action based on the play. I liked the book, but I think the sexuality and the political stuff would be toned down significantly to make it more "family friendly." Can't have those bisexuals and furries in a Christian animated movie.
Despite the tumblr nose, I think these designs are better. I picture Elphaba as tall and thin, with very pointed features and straight hair. Galinda is of course more petite and curvy, with blonde ringlets.
