Some interesting tidbits from the full article;

> The DCEU is "something really massive, smart and interconnected, Affleck promises. “I’ve been really impressed just as a working stiff to see how they’re doing it.”
>There will be a JL group shot in BvS, apparently - Snyder says “I love Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman, but having Flash and Aquaman and Cyborg and to see them all standing together, it’s a pretty dorky and cool experience for me,”
>Snyder speaks about Affleck's Bruce Wayne/Batman - he says that “You can see the idea of the innocent being victimized by whatever they are, aliens, he doesn’t know — that’s the thing that really boils his blood, as you can imagine it would,” Snyder says. “Suddenly the innocent children of the world are all of us.”
>Affleck also talked about his role at length - “Batman is covered up by a suit and sometimes a car and sometimes a lot of vehicles and weapons, whereas Bruce Wayne is much more naked — it’s just you and a suit of clothes,” Affleck says. “You can’t really play Batman because Batman is different things to different people. We project our own things onto the mythology of what Batman is, and he has to be able to be projected upon. With Bruce Wayne, you have to bring something distinct and new and different.”

>Cavill says that Superman is very much using kid gloves with Batman - “He can sure as hell take Batman out if he wants to, and Batman takes advantage of that,” Cavill says, comparing Superman’s constrained Clark Kent side to a dad playing football with a bunch of children. “He’s not going to go all-out against the kids because he’ll end up smashing people around. It’s the idea of still wanting to have fun but no one gets hurt, so you’re being careful about where your knees and elbows are going. That’s what Clark is for me, but Superman is far more relaxed. Superman is dad just being dad at home.”
>Snyder wants to return WW to the centre of pop culture - “She’s a piece of IP that basically exists in pop culture in a way where every kid’s got a Wonder Woman T-shirt and they don’t really know why. I want to give the why back to that.”

>David Ayer seemingly confirms a Batman/Joker punchup; "When you have Batman’s archnemesis, the hero himself can’t be far behind, and one of Ayer’s favorite days was filming Affleck’s part in Suicide Squad. “We made him fight,” the director says with a laugh. “He’s awesome (as Batman). ... You really sense that but for the grace of God he himself would be doing some really foul stuff out in the world.”
>>
>Both Affleck and Cavill are excited to be part of an interconnected universe - Affleck says he’s “bound by nondisclosure clauses a mile long” but is willing to spill the news that Suicide Squad is bound to blow people away. “It felt like I have such a cool cousin. This thing that is so awesome is somehow related to me, and that was really exciting because it started to feel like a constellation of things, and I’ve never had that feeling.” Cavill says that “There’s a whole world of fantasy in comic books, and if you just focus on one small portion of it, you’re never going to get the full magic of it,” Cavill says. “Now that we’re introducing all these other characters and really building the universe to a far larger place than just a simple alien’s life on Earth, it really makes it extraordinarily interesting.”
>Ayer also calls out Marvel's post-credits promotion style - “For me, it’s a little more than just dropping a cut scene in the end credits to link projects,” he says. “You really have to be thinking three movies downrange and how today’s movie will impact more later-cycle projects.”

Not really, Affleck is known to take notes from other directors he works with; even after he made Argo, Town and Gone Baby Gone he was observing David Fincher on Gone Girl.

He could still direct after watching how Snyder does superhero action.

>Applying a small degree of in-story 'realism' to the character's history meant that I had to deal honestly with the idea of a man who had studied and mastered every known martial art and meditation method. That kind of training would kick out a lot of emotional bugs and I felt he couldn't have come through it all as the rage-drive, paranoid loner he was becoming in many stories prior to my tenure. I didn't want to ignore that portrayal either, but I was able to rationalise that period of his life as the result of his having lived through all the grim, dark stories of the 1980s and 90s. Ultimately, I wanted to deal with a Batman who was the Optimum Man. I wanted to think up to his level rather than imagining him as a neurotic and tortured man who could only feel normal by beating the crap out of junkies and bruglars and who constantly seemed to be yelling 'THIS IS MY CITY!' like a petulant child fighting over a stuffed toy.

I don't really see that as saying they've already shot it, they're already storyboarding JL so it might be he's tallking about that.
>>
So, I'm mostly neutral to this company wars thing, but /co/ always tells me Marvel is the one that constantly shits on DC, yet Snyder and Ayer seem to have a lot of interviews where they throw jabs at Marvel, and I haven't seen the same occur with their direction.

So what's up with that?

>>
>>78868491
Its mostly the comics side of things where Marvel shits on DC.
>>
>>78868491
Its more actors than the directors for marvel
Hemsworth did it
RDJ did it

Evans and Civll are bros though
>>
>>78868276

If he's even half serious about the Hypercrisis shit that came up in that interview it's going to be a pretty wild ride.

Besides I like the current Flash TV show right now and feel it does a good job of taking a lot of the best parts of the Flash comics and translating them to live-action. So I'm more inclined to let the movies do their own shit and go a bit off the wall with their interpretation as long as we can get Gustin-Barry and his buddies still in another corner of the Multiverse.

If DC decides to pull a Suicide Squad and end the TV show when the movie starts ramping up production, then I'm going to be fucking mad though.
>>
>>78868470
>>78868516
OP here. I took it to mean that he had actually seen them all in person/costume together. Apologies.
>>
>>78868510

>>78868535
Hemsworth didn't really do it, they asked him how he felt about Marvel's competition, like DC, and he said they were winning.

I mean, it's cocky, but he didn't go out of his way to specifically shit on DC, he was talking about everything non-Marvel.
>>
>>78868620
>We will never get a live-action JLA/Avengers movie with them playing off of each other

Actually weirdly, come to think of it, I think things would be reversed since it seems that the DC movie-verse civilians are more pessimistic about Superman's appearance and heroes in general, as compared to the MCU where people still cheered the Avengers saving New York even if the higher-ups and government officials don't like them.

He's pretty insecure over his material, seems obsessed with proving he's a "deep" director. When he has to go out of his way to say any moment of levity in the previews will be "serious, realistic and grounded" in the context of the movie, you know he needs to prove something to someone.

>>78869217
If you watch the angle of the Batmobile as he hits Clark, it's pretty clear he's trying to avoid him. I'm guessing:

>Batman comes out of retirement and bats up on criminals to get his groove back.
>Superman tracks him down after he's done pounding a few people into unconsciousness.
>Batman is surprised to find Superman on the road around a corner and swerves to avoid him but ends up ricocheting off.
>Face-to-face confrontation where between the two and discussion on their respective methods.

I think there's a scene similar to this one in the movie. One of the concept arts shown at SDCC was them at a bar.

This seems to be the most likely scenario. And it's similar to something that actually happened in TDKR.

I'm betting that the bit with the cops finding the criminal with the bat-brand on his chest is the movie's version of that scene, and that the confrontation with Clark follows immediately afterwards.

think dc is really trying hard to make their movies sound really good.

i have zero interest in 'will smith and his gang' aka suicide squad. i'm pretty sure it's going to be will smith-centric with not-harley as a love interest. the rest of the character having one or 2 lines that don't take away from screen time from will smith.

think dc dropped the ball in taking its time in making a dc movie verse and is rushing to get as many characters and movies out.

this will make more and more people see marvels movies as better and solidify marvel as the end all of comic book movies.

They haven't really been putting him at the forefront of the advertising blitz, so I doubt it.

This is great. Love how they had Supes BTFO Bats in the first TV spot and Bruce talking down to Clark in the second.

>I see it. I definitely see it. The thing you have to consider is that movies are different and separate entities from comics. They have different needs, and they have to find ways to get a lot of people into seats. To the general public, Deadshot as a character is not well known, so they wouldn't really notice any difference. Of course, the people doing the movies want to have the biggest star that they can, because that will help draw people into the movie. Understanding all of that, I have no problem with the casting.

>And don't forget, Gail Simone wrote a slightly different Floyd Lawton than I did. They've had Deadshot on "Arrow," and again, [that's] not at all the Deadshot that I wrote. That doesn't mean that it isn't valid for what they're doing. It isn't necessary that they follow my interpretation of the character. I do think that I have a very good take on Deadshot, but I've got to admit, any time casting is announced for anything, you get a certain percentage of the fans that are up in arms about it. "It's all wrong. It's never going to work." Going back, they said that about Michael Keaton when he was first cast as Batman, and they said it about Christian Bale, and they said it about Ben Affleck. Let's simmer down and see what it looks like, first.

Snyder's gone on record praising the MCU though. His "insults" for the MCU are basically him saying that DC characters are more iconic than Marvel's (not a movie comparison) and before Spiderman was confirmed for Civil War this was undoubtedly true. Ayer and Momoa are the only DC people who've actively insulted Marvel.
But then you see RDJ, Hemsworth, Mackie, etc. all throwing jabs, and that's not even going into the comments Marvel comic writers make about DC movies. Slott, Reed, and Quesada himself to name a few are all over Twitter whenever a new trailer releases.

Over at Marvel, in comparison, creators only get royalties for money made from the most recent usage of a character.

Marveldrone here, hopeful that DC will get it's shit together.

I like the idea of it, but one of the problems with Marvel's movies that everyone keeps pointing out is how much unneeded setup they do. Which is why the post credits stings worked. They made their movie a movie first, and the call to the next with the sting. If they are saving stuff to be explained later, then it's just leaving open plot-holes that not everyone will get filled if they don't watch whatever version of DC will be of Ant-Man.

I think DC has a real shot (more than FOX has), but them trying to criticize the overdog just makes them come off as whiny when they've had all their best properties all along but kept on milking Batman and Superman.

Seems risky, but I honestly hope it pays off. I hope Snyder ends up being DC's Whedon, launching the franchise then fucking off to leave someone more talented to do the payoff. If you're lucky it won't take an AoU to make him leave. (I'm giving you the discount of MoS because I think it was more of a misfire that happened to be the first movie in a Universe, not the genreal direction.

>>
>>78872881
I personally think what more makes it with the Marvel movies is that it's not only the end credits scenes that link shit but also little things as well. Mentions in the background or on computer screens of different characters that are active or might be at the time. Like how in Cap 2 they name dropped Doctor Strange amongst the list of targets they were after. Or how in Daredevil there's mentions of how the Battle of New York put down the property value in some areas.

DC hasn't had much luck doing that and I feel it'll be forced when they do. The only reference of that we've had was in Man of Steel where Superman slams a Kexcorp Truck into Zod and also the satellite that had 'Wayne Industries' on it.
