In some way I can sort of picture the discussion in the board room about having things ordered like that.
Business decisions are all about safety, right? Maximization of returns and all that. We can all agree that the goal of the show, besides to have a show with a bit of artistic integrity and to entertain, at its core is: sell toys. They don't even try and bullshit their way around it in the "Making Of" video. They want to sell toys, they already have fucking toy designs drawn up. And of course they want eyeballs on the screen for ads.
Not having their origin story be the very first episode (like a ton of other shows have) kind of draws it out. Reveal everything and well, I mean, sure there'll be more adventures of Ladybug and Chat Noir, but all that mystery is gone. My investment is gone. They're dragging it out to force us to watch through everything until the finale of this season.
Shit, it even worked on adults like us. We really want to know what the fuck is going on and how things got started. I THINK that maybe these people took a clue from Friendship is Magic (since the show's production started around 2012, 2013 when that was getting started) and saw how big it got by not explaining everything and sort of dragging it out. They want to build a fanbase like MLP and they might be banking on this strategy.
Kids, maybe preteens watching this will watch through the entire season to know how they got their powers and more of the lore.

I've always found it appealing to see how Marinette's demeanor changes from clumsystalkingand ditzy to the calm and collected Ladybug. Is Ladybug who she really is or just a role for her to assume, being a famous hero and all?

Both Ladybug and Chat are the more "free" versions of them. Ladybug is more confident and Chat more wild and mischievous. It always seemed like they're what Adrian and Marinette wished they could be like.
This is especially true for Adrian. Under all the cool and pretty bishounen stuff he really just wants to be playful and free.

In Evillustrator Marinette acts like Ladybug and Ladybug acts like Marinette.
Watched the first two episodes finally, been waiting for this way too long for my own good, and was kinda disappointed. Not helped by the fact that I didn't find any dub appealing - English sounds the most natural out of the three (you'd think it would be French, but alas) but the VA and sound direction make it feel like I'm watching Saban's newer Power Rangers seasons.
Should have probably noticed earlier that it was so obviously being pointed out that I'm not the target audience.
so i've seen first episode of this on polish disney xd. that one about weather girl turned bad(and hotter) and i must say it's mediocre. animations seem a bit stiff and that animu wannabe design(big heads and even bigger eyes) gets creepier the more you look at it.
i'll give it a chance, but i don't expect anything special.

Stormy Weather and Bubbler are both the worst episodes in almost every category. While the animation sees the least improvement so far, it does improve like everything else.
