Well I guess you'll have to look for "/coc/ thread" now since I was in such a hurry to make the thread I forgot the subject. It's because I'm making the thread late for various reasons.

"Weekend /co/ creation thread"

Last thread lasted for two weeks, here's a run down of it:
-Talking about space and what kind of stories we want to see in it
-The secret evil organization known as ONE
-Golden Girl's future costume as Golden Guardian (probably still a work in progress)
-Prose story of General Freedom chatting with Blue Blood for the first time
-Updates on the Lovely Ladybug Summer Special
-Trying to get an outline (the thing before the script) for BreastQuest issue 3 going
-Bunch of other new pics

Remember when we joked about "That Bad Thing That Happened" to Britain? That thing that caused its complete and utter collapse and devastation?

Though I actually like the idea of her having a mask since I think it fits with her characterization of thinking things through and assuming people aren't blinded by comic logic.

There should really be a Welsh character.

Maybe bring in the concept of hireath to their personality, since it's something so complex but easy to understand.
>>
>>84056773
Could be the motive of that brother from the last thread (maybe make them an uncle or father so they're a bit older?) who ended up falling in with a rebel cause in a parallel world.

Like he was searching for a place where he can be a warrior for glory and honor, fighting for something higher.

A world that matches his vision of a past that's like Time Table by Genesis.

Basement Wizard is Welsh.
>>
>>84056773
>>84057066

Makes me think that the recurring aspect of this should be time, and the past. Making it an older relative that has been gone for many years is one aspect of this. Have it so the "sidekick" in in fact a creature made alive from one of their childhood drawings uncovered in the attic of a family home is an aspect of this as well. So when this point-of-view character catches up with this old relative they (and the sidekick) are hunting, they assaulted by both their own past (a childhood memory) and also the current era of a family left behind.

Making them Welsh is this as well, since Welsh (as a language) is one of the oldest in the British Isles still widely spoken.

Also that "longing for a time or place you can't return to" could also come up in how they kind of want to return home, but know that too much time has passed, as well as how different they are now.
>>
>>84057639
Also all the time that this character is on the trail of the older relative, their own time is ticking away.

Is the archive dead? If so I think we lost the BQ #3 outline.

I'm not entirely sure a design like that fits, either. If she's going to have a mask (and honestly, my vote remains maskless), it should be something more like what a superheroine from around the Silver/Bronze Age transition would have.

I still keep thinking something Huntress-y, that extends off of her face.

Lemuria is real and it's owned by The Numbers! ONE possesses an ancient Archipelago that rose after the nuclear tests of the 50s and 60s. Now Numbers plot in ancient Lemurian halls and work on recoving Muan artifacts from the sunken cities of the lost Atlantean Empire!

Who is Number Two? Why does he own a secret island dedicated to breaking the wills of heros, villains, and international men of mystery? Will he ever live down the shame of losing #8?

Why does #3 seek alien technology? How does their cloaked sky fortress function? Will the soviet union ever detect their machinations or does the Kremlin dance to #3's sinister tune?

Does #4 have a plan or are they merely toying with NATO? Will the world's spy organizations ever catch up with his fiendish game or will he keep sending brave men and women to The Village?!

How is #5 alive? Is he really ten thousand years old or is this just a scam to gain the loyalty of an ancient cult? Can The Scarab ever hope to free Cairo of the nefarious grasp of #5 or is egypt doomed to suffer under the machinations of ONE.

Is #8 truly alive? Does he work from the shadows with CASTLE or is he just a story told in hushed corners?

Can CASTLE and Director Bahkan thwart ONE or is civilization doomed to cry ONE FOR ALL?!

I think his rogues are actually pretty strong.

I always thought Appladay would find new an exciting ways to use his weird power.
>>
>>84054761

I'd say I would go like this.

At some point earth was invaded by an alien army (like in Independece day) after the main alien army was defeated by the justice coalition, the heroes fly to the main ship to destroy it but as it turns out, its filled with what you'd call "civilians", alien who can't fight and don't want to, they surrender.

The story behind the aliens is more complex than people thought, the aliens abandoned their dying planet to find another place to live. Their intention was to negotiate their stay with the next planet if necessary but people between them grew anxious, as it took very long to find the next planet and resources were getting less. What'll we do if there is another race on this planet? what if its inteligent? can we really trust them? can we really coexist? the fear grow between them about an enemy they've never seen, soon a group took over the mainship who decided to conquer the next planet instead of using diplomacy.

After some discussions and negotiations, the alien refugees were brought to earth to a secluded area(like District 9), the terms were that they'll stay there and would gradually be integrated in our sociaty. Many politicians wanted also take advantage of their knowledge, which is why the smartest of the aliens could leave the area. Years passed by and the aliens were allowed to leave the area under certain condicions also because their numbers were increasing and they needed more space.
>>
>>84075674
There was an increasing anxiety in the area as the alien leaders selected by the UN, had little to no power outside the area eventhough the aliens still had valuable knowledge, there was still tension because of the invasion. At some point a group of aliens which also supported the Invasion plan decided to take down the leader and take control over the erea, the war between aliens escalated quickly. The war could've been avoided with an intervention but suddenly countries took different sides which caused tension between the countries. To avoid further conflicts and war, the nations decided to stay out of the conflict between aliens.

The war caused an increasing number of alien refugees, which every country wants to deal with in a different way, this tore britain apart from the EU as britain took the most damage during the invasion. The same for the Justice Coalition which heroes are from different countries and already had discussion because of the decision of taking the aliens in.
>>
>>84070921
Because he can shoot flaming apples from his mouth, can you do that shit? No? Then shut your damn non-flaming-apple-spewing mouth!
>>
>>84075829
If they're so smart why didn't they just commission a city to be built on the moon?

You have all this alien technology, you can get to space EASILY with it, you have all these smart aliens with their bullshit alien super SCIENCE, just trade the information for resources, build a goddamn city on the moon, and start from there.

I don't want to be beholden to any real world logic or politics with this. That shit gets tossed right out their airlock and into the Sun as soon as fantastic future magic-science bullshit technology gets thrown into the mix.
>>
>>84076422
>If they're so smart why didn't they just commission a city to be built on the moon?

lack of resources, they also need an atmosphere similar to earth to live. About the technology, its so advanced, it takes its time for human scientist to understand and implement, also there are restrictions for aliens due to the invasion, politicians are just not gonna hand the ressources over, specially because they want the knowledge for cheap. The aliens are only getting some acceptance from the public after years and because of lefties taking the alien civilians side, because they dindu nuffin.

Taking ideas from reality doesn't mean you have to go full realism.
>>
>>84076758
They still had a functioning huge ass space ship.
That didn't just disappear, land it on the moon, build a city from it.

And space travel = asteroid belt = UNLIMITED RESOURCES.

And since this all harkens back to the stupidly non-named incident that wrecked the UK, I always thought that was a magical melt down that had nothing to do with aliens, unless demons also fall under that umbrella term.

>>
>>84077130

There are various reasons why there is life on earth unlike on the moon, like the atmosphere that protects you from extrem changes in temperature. Even if the Aliens were able to terraform another planet, terraforming just doesn't magically happens and it takes like forever and meanwhile they have to live somewhere, if they could live in any planet, they would've done so from the very beginning. They are dependent on earth and its resourcess.

There are also many different resources that you just don't get from asteroids like food, the alien had weapons but were running out of food.
>>
>>84077347
If it eats it shits.
If it shits it can grow more food.

Ever heard of vertical farms? Sounds like those idiots who took over the ships, which I assume somehow were in space for a very long time, destroyed all of their sustainability systems.

Also, aliens wouldn't call it terraforming, they'd call it whatever-their-planet-was-called-forming.
Like hottaforming or something.

And building a city on the moon would work like this:
-Find a crater
-Dome the crater
-Fill the dome with atmosphere
-All that other tech you need (solar panels, water cycle, whatever)
That's the simplest way to put it. There would be layers to the city and it'd be all kinds of complex, but totally doable with the tech levels we're working with there.

And another thing, why would aliens need an atmosphere like Earth's? There's just too many problems with how complicated you want this to be.
There's no way to properly represent the complexity of the situation you want this to have unless the story is massive.

Next, there's already the technology for floating cities in low orbit and shit in the /coc/ setting, so why not build more of those if space is a problem?

It just feels like you want this to be chained to real world logic and politics without ever getting to exploring what would make it interesting.

I'd actually been playing with the idea of something like this. As her powers develop she becomes able to drain kinetic energy not just from objects she's directly touching, but from objects those objects are touching.

At a point, she's able to expand her sphere of influence to create layers of air that are being held in place, connected to her and ready to absorb energy. Any object in contact with that air can have its energy pulled from it before it ever even touches her, while at the same time the more air that object would be displacing, the more that air would also compress, effectively "hardening" to become cushions the object would have to pass through.

This thing.
It's basically bacta in application as far as I can tell.

How you treat a bloom victim is to stick them in a vat of this stuff for a while.
>>
>>84107256
That wouldn't heal the jellyfish too?
>>
>>84107311
It would separate the jellyfish from the host.

You need someone on stand by to scoop them out of the soup when it happens.
>>
>>84107341
And has the added benefit of providing a very healthy specimen of the parasite for research. Handy.
>>
>>84107366
Yeah.

And I figure Jellybro's missing memories will be linked to the Bloom and their origins. There's probably someone behind all of it, though if they were consumed by the horde or not is a question of how the story goes.
>>
>>84107341
I like the fact that a pool sifter is apparently a key medical instrument in this operation.

Didn't that issue say the miracle cure was in short supply and tightly controlled by the Justice Coalition, though? Will this encounter see some help for the ACOSF from the wider JC?
>>
>>84108575
It's not in short supply, it's just locked in an exclusive contract with the U.S. military and used primarily by the JC.

Something Lilah deeply disapproves of.
>>
>>84108818
If they're only producing enough for the JC it might be a bit tight to administer to a beach worth of people on short notice. But heroes persevere, I'm sure they'll find a way.
>>
>>84109078
That doesn't mean they don't have a way to super mass produce it, there were probably other times where civilian casualties were high enough that they used it to help save everyone.

There's gotta be a protocol for it.

But that's for later in the story.

I figure the story starts with the AC(oSF) having just finished their training under Spear Head, are on their first solo assignment.
And that is lifeguard duty at the beach.

It's boring for most of them, but Belle is upbeat about it. This goes on for a few weeks without incident until something happens.
>>

>>84109078
We've had the Fax Machine since the 1920s or so. But phone companies suppressed it so it didn't reach the consumer market once, you know, landlines and crap made using a fax machine desirable for the average consumer. Militaries were the only people who made excessive use of the things.

come the internet they finally relent and the fax machine enjoys ten or so years of use before E-mail and the rise of the smart phone render it utterly obsolete.

Presumably the drug can be mass produced but the US Military doesn't want it entering the common market. Our current military strategy basically revolves around producing weapons that either one shot enemy machines or maim their soldiers. A healed soldier is a threat so a miracle drug that heals any wound is a serious military asset.

regardless of how that would effect civilian life.

It's really not that strange of an idea for military higher ups to ask a political group to suppress a technology, even a mostly beneficial one, for the assumed threat it represents.
>>
>>84109301

No one was questioning that it'd be strange for the military to do that, all I'm saying is there's more tan likely a way to quickly mass produce it in the all to frequent event of catastrophic civilian casualties.

I'd like to believe that in our /coc/verse the politics wouldn't get in the way of saving lives.
>>
>>84109669
I'm sure they can scramble some sort of relief. Even if they can't cure all the victims right away they can put them in tanks until they can gear up their cure production.

Actually that could be a good seed for a future plot. Something goes wrong at the Bloom tank at /co/ntainment or whoever handles that crap.
>>
>>84110663
Absolutely.

But how do the AC(oSF) handle the initial outbreak?

I think Jellybro and Diving Belle would end up going after the source of it.
>>
>>84110892
Jellybro and Levi are immune.
Belle and Reef can protect themselves.

Reef could create things to hold them while Levi, Jelly and Belle shepherd them in.
>>
>>84110892
Maybe Belle would try to find the queen so Jellybro and/or Bloop can reason with her. Gotta pursue that nonviolent solution.
>>
>>84109601
I might be off by a couple decades and I'm too lazy to check wikipedia but the invention of the fax machine predates the internet by a frankly shocking margin if you think of its impact on society and brief moment of relevance for the consumer market.

think about your phone, it's basically just a tiny radio. Land Lines put a lot of the processing power in large companies. Smart Phones have signal managing packages and so on. If you can take radio waves and turn them into sound it's not that great a stretch to turn them into visual imagery, even before the invention of the television. If phone companies hadn't surppressed the technology during the 40s or 50s you could've seen Fax Machines being used to send books to people's homes or for short messages, a kind of weird primitive internet.

go figure.

>>84109174
So the AC(oSF) are on another boring day of lifeguard duty. There are no sharks because Levi can make them not come close to shore with whatever her anatomy consists of.

Reef is reading a paper (because I hate the idea of him looking at a smartphone) and there's another article about more people disappearing from ships in the area. He scoffs and says that's the sort of thing they should be involved with.

Belle chimes in with boundless optimism that if they make a good impression on the public, they'll get better missions in the future. Caliber also adds that Reef was singing a different tune when he was posing for those beach girls the other day.

Then they hear screams from the beach and take off down there, some guy is rising from the water who looks like >>84106848 and Jellybro is doing his best to keep him from hurting himself or others since he's started swinging around wildly as soon as he got on dry land.

Reef encases him in coral and they as Jellybro if he knows him. He just shrugs "I dunno this this guy." Belle makes the call to close the beach on the chance there's more of these things. Reef and Caliber take the man to a hospital to get him looked at while Belle and Jellybro head out into the ocean to meet up with Levi and see if she's noticed anything strange happening.

The story starts like that.
>>
>>84111656
If you're talking about Harpoonist, then no, he was not her protege, he was her pet project in messing with the meta gene.

I think her underwater mobile base was confiscated and stuff in there before Carver Medical.
>>
Just sort've spitballing.

>>84111725
Reef and Caliber get the guy to a hospital, and they've never seen anything like it. The jellyfish is fused with this guy's head, its tendrils are all up in his nervous system. As far as they can tell the man is fully conscious, but has no control over his body. They put him in quarantine as they wait for a specialist to arrive.

Reef and Caliber had back to the beach to make sure no one else is getting into the water.

Diving Belle and Jellybro have found Levi, she's in her giant form and fighting a a swarm of jellyfish that keep latching onto her, but then fall off shortly thereafter. The jellyfish begin swarming Diving Belle and Jellybro as well, but then ignore Jellybro. They can't get to Diving Belle because of her suit and she starts creating currents to force the swarms to disperse. Levi fills them in that the swarm came from the northwest.

Back on the beach, more people fused with jellyfish begin lumbering onto shore, there's an army of them. Caliber is evacuating the beaches while Reef does his best not to hurt any of the jelly zombies since there's still people in there who can feel everything happening to them. Reef starts making walls and encloses them, then channels to corral the horde. He's in full coral armor to avoid possible infection.

Diving Belle's group moves in the direction the swarms came from and finds thousands of jellyfish, as well as captive people being forcefully exposed to them. Below them there's an army of zombies slowly making their way to shore.

>>
>>84112307
Well they are the lifeguards on duty, and there is an active threat to the populace, so yes.

And I'm going to say that when the jellyfish fuses with a person, that person can now breath underwater because of the jellyfish.

Hmm... an automated program created the Bloom.

>>84112477
Gotta get to the stinger before we can have it though.

>>84111984
It looks like an old sea lab is the source of the jellyfish. There's a much larger one in a cage being shocked repeatedly right above the "production line".

First priority is saving the people who are still captive and have yet to be infected. Belle creates a sea current for Levi to ride on in her smaller form at high speed before transforming back into her giant monster form and grabbing the entrance to where the people are being forced out, clamping it shut.

Back on land, there are just too many jelly zombies, it's only a matter of time before they make it into town. Reef is holding them off the best her can, but the jelly zombies are starting to learn to climb over his walls.

Caliber grabs her sonic surfboard and acts as bait, luring the hordes back into the sea. Reef follow them. While the zombies are after Caliber, Reef goes below them and make a coral platform, lifting them out of the water as a cage forms around them. They now have a huge number of trapped zombies, but more are coming so there's very little time for high-fives.

Back on the seafloor, Jellybro has been getting odd impressions, sort've like memories, he asks Belle to give him a ride to the sea base with a current since he thinks he knows a way to get in there. After Jellybro is in, Belle begins making a wall of ice to keep the marching zombies from advancing any further.

Levi joins Jellybro inside the base (protocol dictates never to go it alone). While in there, Jellybro feels lightheaded, way more so then usual. His head feels like there's a thorn being pulled out of his skull, like there's a compass needle poking him in the brain telling him which way to go. They find themselves in what seems to be an observation deck that's right next to the caged giant jellyfish. The security finally kicks in when he touches the glass.

I'm out of space.
>>
>>84112789
Antiquated automations like flying buzz saws with guns are released. Levi makes quick work of them while Jellybro is still staring at the queen jellyfish. Levi finally shakes him out of it and Jellybro directs them to a control room. The whole place is empty, there are notes on the wall with the word "Bloom research" written all over them. The notes are old, the paper they're written on has yellowed with age. Levi contacts Belle with their findings, it seems this is a lab dedicated to creating an artificial hive-mind using jellyfish, the clear option is the eliminate the queen to sever the link.

Belle and Jellybro are against this though, Levi decides to go along with their plan to free the queen on the grounds that she could always kill it later if it became a problem. Back outside, the cage opens and the enraged Bloom queen emerges, lashing out in all directions with no clear focus. Jellybro tries communicating with it, but all he's getting are strong feelings of hate emanating from it, though none of them are directed at them.

The Queen looks like it's going to attack them, but then it swims off in a huff, it breaks the hive-mind when it does so, for whatever reason.

The zombies are now aimless and mostly harmless.

Back on dry land, there's media coverage on the beach now as Reef and Caliber handle the last of the zombies on their end into a coral cage. Suddenly Levi rises from the water causes shock and almost panic from the civilians until Reef tells them to relax, that's their teammate, Levi has a huge hall of jelly zombies.

Belle briefs Reef and Caliber on what happened and notes they still don't know who turned the lab back on.

Then I figure it would go into another issue where they begin trying to cure the Bloom infected people and the Bloom queen might reestablish her link with them.
>>
>>84112950
So next issue would be trying to remove the Bloom, the JC proper getting involved (maybe pats on the head all around, good job aqua guys or something instead of the usual "this is everything you did wrong" speech the big two always preach), trying to secure enough of that miracle cure to restore all the people, and tracking down the queen Bloom.

I think the only person who might catch flack is Belle for letting the queen go, but if she hadn't let it go, then it would've become more enraged and the hive-mind would be all the stronger.

Well, things to think about later if this thread is still up tomorrow.
>>
>>84112789
>>84112950
