What's the right way to clean a cast iron skillet? My brother says soap and water I just scrape out any food and rub with a paper towel and salt
You're both right. Pan will get clean. But your brothers way destroys the seasoning which is foundational to good cast iron cooking.

did reddit tell you to do that
Dish detergent, hot tap water, and a brillo pad works pretty well
Ignore any retards who sperg about "seasoning" and "nonstick". The pan is seasoned and soap isn't doing shit. Sticking isn't bad if you actually know how to cook. If you genuinely need ultimate nonstick you use a teflon pan if you aren't a complete fuckup. Cast iron is for hamburgers and oven roasted vegetables, not eggs. Never eggs. Everyone who disagrees with me need not reply because nothing will ever fix the fact that they are poor, their food is shit, and they are stupid and have bad hygiene.
