PERFECT SLICES EVERY TIME
>>7682201
That's pretty helpful
this takes batteries
>>7682223
That could be okay. Is there a thickness adjuster?

If that is what I think it is, its just a blue LED light in a fridge housing. It doesn't even cool your drink, but just looks cool I guess if you like wasting USB ports for LED lights.
it's fucking 21 dollars wtf

Just what I've always wanted.
>>7682319

I've seen those used in sushi places to cut thinner strips of seaweed. Some of these products in this thread probably serve some purpose in a production/restaurant setting for some niche.
>£9.60
>>7682349
Ohh... I bet they'd also be great at cutting out strands of fresh pasta noodles from dough if you didn't have a machine.
How can this possibly be easier to clean than a bowl and a fork?
>>7682352

This is definitely a common problem that needs a technological solution.
>>7682344
My mum has some of those... She uses them to cut up important letters after the shredder broke.
>"Wow Anon, I bet shaping the dough for this artisan lattice bread took FOREVER.."

>>7682484
The point of that contraption is to omit the nori. It's near impossible to roll sushi uniformly without the nori there to keep it in shape.
>>7682491
1) why omit the nori?
2) Even if you do want to omit it, you can still roll the sushi by placing a piece of plastic wrap over the bamboo rolling mat.
>>7682490
You have to be parked to use the tray.
>>7682491
> It's near impossible to roll sushi uniformly without the nori there to keep it in shape.
...just use something else in place of the nori. what magical properties does the nori have?
>>7682499
It has the magical property of umami
>>7682493
>if you don't do it with the traditional equipment it won't taste the same
>>7682499
Like what? Rice paper? That'd work. But it would also have a really shit texture.
Go ahead, I'm curious what substitutes you think you can use. Something thin and pliable enough to maintain structure, but doesn't have a bad texture or weird taste that would conflict with the ingredients of a roll.
>>7682501
>prevaricating this hard
it's easier and more versatile to do it by hand/with a mat. the sushi gun thing is one size and it relies on compressing the sushi pretty hard
>>7682502
a mat, or clingfilm.
>>7682502
Plastic wrap is very commonly used to make "white" rolls.
>>7682517
Which you use on the OUTSIDE while rolling. The nori goes on the inside and is the foundation the rice is built on. So no, that's not a solution to omitting it. You have nothing to spread the rice on as a base. The base keeps the rice from mushing together when you roll it. Roll a rice tube without a base and you're going to get a pile of smushed rice.
>>7682502
Beancurd skin?
>>7682523
You say that yet I have seen various chefs on the old Japanese "Iron Chef" TV show roll nori-less sushi many times using cling film over a bamboo mat. Now maybe that's something that requires a lot of expertise but they sure make it look simple. Perhaps the trick is to use a filling for the roll which is long and fairly firm so that the rice can be rolled around it?
>>7682502
sausage casing could work
you could even chrisp up the skin to give a different texture to the final product
>>7682523
people have been rolling california rolls for a very long time without this gun, buddy.

Before my grandpa passed he used to buy all sorts of gimmicky shit that came in the mail. Usually a result of those mail-in "sweepstakes" where they promise huge prize sums but all they ever send back are chinese-made gadgets and more mail-in forms.
Inevitably they'd make their way to me in the form of birthday and christmas gifts.
I'd call them "pops gifts." In his old wit, he'd play these gadgets up like they were the best thing ever hoping we the "kids" would either think they're that hot shit, or pity him for being old and taking it off his hands anyway.
That 'mixer' was one of said gifts. Imagine carving out the vibrator from your mom's favorite dildo and jerry-rig that on top of three metal coathanger prongs. It might be a neat abortion tool, but no, that was this mixer and the intent was for it to stir up sauces.
In short it doesn't mix anything efficiently at all. Even low-maintenance sauces like spaghetti sauce. It kind of just hobbles about in the pan, it does completed rotations after awhile but they're not enough to really be incorporating anything or keeping your sauce from sticking to the bottom and sides of the pot.
Still though, makes me think of my grandpa and his gullible wallet yet good intentions.

extruded garlic is different to hand crushed/minced garlic: in fact a lot of people think it's worse. and you don't necessarily want to 'release more oils and flavour'.

hey great job addressing the points buddy
extruded garlic is imperfect. stuff gets left behind in the press. you have to clean it out, a task at which domestic dishwashers often fail. the paste tends to be more pungent and to oxidise and even burn more easily. it is only significantly faster when dealing with one or two cloves, in large part because you can stick them in without peeling, but as the number of cloves go up, assuming you have the knack, it's faster to use a knife or a pestle and mortar.

I'm willing to bet the insulation does more work than the actual cooling components, so it probably doesn't have that many BTUs or draw much power. My buddy said he put it in his truck and tried to use it on the USB power in there, but the cans got hot (Middle of summer in Mississippi, temps over 100 outside)
