The formula got really stale. They ran out of stuff to make and had to rely on shit like episodic "specials" and stuff in order to pretend like the concept was fresh. Eventually they had cooked nearly all the meats and made most super popular dishes in one way or another. There's only so much you can do when meat-based spectacle is everything.
I enjoyed it in Highschool. Also, my cousin apparently joined a meat club at UCLA that was inspired by this and we all talked shit about how she was taking their meat.
I've never watched this, dont plan to.
Matt Stonie is based tho.
To be honest I think the show was pretty cool, here's why:

Epic Meal Time was never funny.
They got too big for their own good. The appeal was really never the food, it was watching some friends adopt these over the top personas and fuck around in the kitchen. Once they started making serious YouTube money it became clear Harley thought he was hot shit and the main selling point of the show instead of the interactions between them. I still watch some episodes like Candy BBQ every now and again.
