I wouldn't say it's the worst, as I haven't had lots of spiced rum. It's just noticeably worse than many other rums in the 12-25$ range, regardless of whether they're spiced or not.
Flor de Cana, Barbancourt, Goslings, etc. don't taste like chemicals and are much better. Even Cruzan is better, as is Bacardi. Decent rum is relatively cheap, so there's no point in buying Capt Morgan.
I once mixed stones green ginger wine and vermouth with the hopes of getting something that wasn't worse than either of them by themselves.

went to a cocktail making class at a member's club a couple of weeks back. it was run by a guy from grey goose so pretty much everything was vodka based.
he organised us into groups and made us come up with a cocktail and make it for the other groups. then he gave us score cards to rate the other groups based on 'flair', 'concept' and 'technique'.
one of the groups consisted of an aged couple in matching white track suits adorned with their names in black calligraphy on the front, we called them peter and petra stringfellow, along with two underage little shits. the other group was a few very polite 30-somethings. then there was me, my two friends, a pissed mum and her underage son.
the pissed mum and her son were really shy and unambitious and didn't even like cocktails so they started playing around with cranberry juice and vodka and shit. the group with peter and petra started fucking around with champagne and tomato juice and fresh chilli and it looked awful. the other team basically made a mule.
one of my friends was a total pussy and made no suggestions. the other said he wanted to try making a 'dessert-inspired' cocktail. so we made an orgeat and vodka drink cut with lemon and shaken with egg white. threaded a cherry onto the straw and rested it in a coupette so the cherry floated in the middle of the drink and it looked like a bakewell tart. we called it a 'slakewell'.
it was fucking disgusting and peter and petra and the two little shits one with their weirdly refreshing champagne and tomato juice concoction. i was mad as fuck. apparently the two little shits gave us like 1/10 for every score and the instructor didn't interfere. fuck those little shits. but to be fair the slakewell was revolting.

Calvados is the shit. Maybe that's a bad brand or something (the price seems too good to be true), but calvados is one of the best liquors out there. In the US everyone uses Laird's apple brandy because calvados is twice the price, but it's so good.
I don't like licorice taste, so I don't care for anise-flavored stuff. Absinthe, sambuca, raki/ouzo, etc. I don't mind it in Jagermeister because it's mixed in with like 40 other things. Also, any kind of cheap flavored vodka is just ass. A friend and I once got wasted on cherry Burnett's vodka mixed with Minute Maid lemonade because it was all we had.

That's what I was referring to when I said Laird's apple brandy, I just couldn't think of the name. Pretty sure it's the only US apple brandy (or at least the only widely distributed one).
