Final Round of the 2016 Challenge!

Here's the list of those who made the final 4, Congratulations!
Nack
Fantastic

CookingRei

Regular rules (timestamps and identifiers) still apply.

Please read the voting guidelines below. This round will go until May 20th.
>>
VOTING GUIDELINES

Voting follows an 'Iron Chef' style scoring system. This means you, the people of /ck/, will judge each entry individually instead of deciding on what you feel is the "best" dish.

Dishes are scored out of a total 20 points, based on 4 categories (worth a maximum of 5 points each); Presentation, Originality, Appeal and Challenge Goals. You may award 0's if you feel the contestant did not meet your expectations for a category.

-Presentation: The appearance of items on the plate; plating skills
-Originality: Creativity in composing the dish
-Appeal: How appetizing the food looks/whether or not the dish appeals to your personal taste as a voter
-Challenge Goals: How closely the entry followed the challenge goal(s)

The distinction between Presentation and Appeal: If someone submits an artfully arranged but burnt steak as an entry, it may score high in Presentation but low in appeal.

The theme of the final round is...(like always)

"Signature"

make us your one signature dish, the one dish to blow all of your competitors out of the water.

While you're perfectly welcome to make a large spread of food, please make sure there is clearly a "main dish" because that is what people will be voting on.

Only one will prevail! I will need a show of hands to know if this will be a cummulative score victory or a sudden death round.

There's a nifty "hide thread" feature. You could always give it a try.

Can't say I'm quite okay with Nack getting first place with his super late submission...
>>

There was 6 votes in for him. Not too too bad.

I am def rooting for Dice, I enjoyed his submissions a lot so far.

RIP Yellowcheat, you won't be missed.

Ha, that cheating cunt yellowfag is finally gone.

Finally a cancer free competition.
>>
Just a lurker who doesn't vote. Dropped out in 3rd round because because. But I enjoy the posts that have pictures attached to them, and ignore the rest (sometimes I browse through the ratings that have comments).
Appreciate the effort and patience it takes to run this. Props.
I appreciate the effort put forth by the contestants too.
And the voters, mustn't forget them.
Thanks for putting up with all the bullshit!

Starting to get exciting!

1 vote for sudden death.

I'm going to be very surprised if the Craigslist rants and raves tier of "trolling" ends.
50 somethings on disability with nothing else to do, or people at work killing time trying to stir up shit. It's just not very clever. Kinda feel bad for you desu senpai. Try spreading love instead of hate: it makes people insanely angry.
Now, call me yellowmug, or kiddo...

Reverting to lurking mode.

Would have done a WAY better job plating if it was for a competition. The pasta doesn't even look like it was tossed in the sauce (it was) and it looks overcooked. Butt yeah, good luck guys!

Back to lurk mode for reals this time.

>Would have done a WAY better job plating if it was for a competition

Did you see the last round? Plating barely matters at this point in the competition. It's basically just a popularity contest at this point.

That looks pretty good.

But your sole reason for coming to these threads was to shit all over yellowmug every time you had a chance to check your phone. Now you no longer have any purpose here.
>>

>just a popularity contest at this point.
Well, yeah. Kinda. It's always kinda been like that.
But if it was JUST that, then (no offense, B) Borneo would still be in, as she is pretty popular here. No?
But plating was pretty shitty last round.
It's been a long run and I'm sure people are getting tired of trying to impress us. It's tasking.
Hopeful, and I expect to see some good effort for the last round.

One vote for sudden death
>>
>>7669590

>a cummulative score victory or a sudden death round

You should do it Chopped style, where the final dish is the main thing being scored, but everything that was made before is somehow factored into that score.
>>
>>7671602

I liked most of yellowmug's entries.

Which dishes did you contribute?
>>
>>7670586
I mean, let's be fair, last round was party, so plating there I feel isn't gonna be as up to par as other rounds, when you consider most people weren't making something for an actual party, so it was a smaller amount of food they were trying to make seem bigger.
>>
>>7672809

Yellowmug got totally shafted last round, which was kind of disappointing.

>inb4 shut up yellowmug, you're a cheater, nobody likes you, etc.

Not yellowmug, but I thought his entry deserved better.
>>
>>7673574
I personally didn't like his presentation at all, and rather than making one main dish he seemed to just make a bunch of party food and then stuck them together on one plate.

Maybe it just went over my head or something.
>>
>>7673757

>maybe it just went over my head or something

It didn't seem like a really difficult concept. Do you have potlucks where you're from?
>>
>>7673574
I didn't really care for his entry at all. All the stuff looked old and stale. And the loaded Bloody Mary isn't a good idea. It's hard to eat and inconvenient. That sort of 'cheeky' dish doesn't play well.

Also the elements were just plain weird. No one wants to eat carrot cake while drinking a bloody mary.

It was the weakest dish desu.
>>
>>7673880

>it was the weakest dish

Go to bed Eyepatch.
>>
>>7673935
You first, Yellowmug
>>
>>7673880

So you don't know what a potluck is, and have never been to a party where the food was served on skewers?

I thought it was clever.
>>
>>7673961

I already told you why the dish was terrible, I'm not going to go over it all again.

But sure, no one 'got' your dish, that's why it got bad scores.
>>
>>7673935
Hey man, I'm fully aware mine looked like literal shit. I got too stoned from/while making the sauce and ended up making a bad plating choice by pouring the sauce all over the chicken. It probably wouldn't of scored very well anyways. I had fun making the sauce, and it tasted a lot better than it looked. The whole reason I did this contest was for fun, and I had plenty. I was never looking to win.
>>
>>7673961
Please just fuck off yellow. You and your pathetic samefagging and shit tier food are done. Retreat back into your basement now you waste of oxygen.
>>
A final with four competitors? I think this round should be sudden death personally. Level playing field.

Three really strong competitors who I would be happy at seeing win. There is one who I definitely think is only in the final due to being boosted by the chummy generous sycophancy of fan voters rather than for the calibre of their food, which is pedestrian and not creative.
>>
>>7673961
>>7673790
I mean, his presentation didn't look like or remind me of a potluck though.

It was skewers of carrot cake, pizza, and something else sticking out of a bloody mary, with some other stuff I don't remember on the plate.

It didn't look appealing at all, to me.

I'm late to the contest as usual. Was there some sort of corruption going on? How are Borneo and Pyewacket not in contention for first place?!?! Was BubbleBurst BubbleBribed?!
>>
>>7676176

Pyewacket didn't compete this year and Borneo was too busy to give her best effort.

It was a pretty normal year, except that someone decided to troll hardcore, got Thomas the train to drop out early, and then spammed all sorts of bullshit about yellowmug for the rest of the competition.

Otherwise it was /ck/ challenge as usual with some pretty good entries.
>>
>>7676176
Borneo dropped out due to IRL issues. Pye didn't join this year.

No bribery. More trolls then last year. Sadly, this last sentence resumes mug of the board hear days. The wasoru archive should left you browse old threads if you want to inflict that on yourself. The blog has this year's entry if you want to see just the plates.

>>
>>7676392
none of these lads are very good at cooking anyway, no need to get upset.
>>
Elimination should definitively be sudden death. Otherwise Dice and CookingRei would pretty much stand no chance. A 3-4 point advance is quite considerable and super hard to beat.
>>
>>7678973

what's the point of a cumulative score then? its like having 2 people compete in the Olympics where 1 person wins 9 contests but loses the 10th meaning the 2nd person wins overall.
>>
Should be Sudden Death as every other year.
>>
>>7679013
The point of cumulative scoring was to fairly get the contestants to this end match. Now, it should be sudden death as per usual, one dish to rule them all.
>>
>>7679013
I dont think the winners of each individual round really matter. The 4 remaining passed all 9 rounds so far.
>>
>>7679061

That's retarded.

For the first half of the competition you could have literally entered anything and have been guaranteed to move on, simply because there was always people dropping out. I think cumulative score should be factored in somehow.
>>
>>7679098
And if you did that in the second half, you would have been eliminated.

There's less than 4% difference between Dice and Nack, that's pretty much equal.

Considering cumulative scores would just fuck over the playing field.
>>
>>7679113

>fuck over the playing field

God forbid people are ranked according to the worth of their dishes in a cooking competition. Let's just fuck everyone over instead and say to hell with what people earned. This is basically capitalism vs socialism. People bitching about how much others have earned opposed to having worked hard themselves and earning as much. No, instead we should hinder the work of the top few to give the bottom few more than what they have earned.
>>
>>7679204
nigger, we're in the top 4 already. Everyone currently here deserves their place.
It's less than 4 fucking % over 9 rounds. 0.25 points out of 20 in average per round. Aka well into the realm of random variations.

If you consider the whole competition, the difference is irrelevant and shows pretty much no difference in skill or dedication. But if you count it entirely in the last round, you're fucking over the bottom two contestants completely. A 5 point disadvantage in a single round is close to impossible to beat.

If cumulative scores were so fucking important, they would have been used in all the rounds. Guess what? They haven't been.

Seriously, under your method, Dice and Rei have pretty much no reason whatsoever to compete. They would be at too much of a disadvantage.
>>
>>7679222

>were in the top 4 already

You maybe, I'm just watching this shit and pointing out the bullshit, which this is.
>>
>>7679275
We're as in the whole thread/competition, I didn't mean it as individuals.

As for ''Bullshit'' I've explained clearly why your view would fuck over the competition.
>>
>>7679292

You can explain till you're blue in the face, don't make it right you fucking liberal shit.
>>
>>7679292
>fuck over the competition

?? How is taking into account previous scores "fucking over the competition". If they didn't like it, they should've gotten higher scores throughout.

If we do it your way, the worst cook could win with a lucky dish. A higher sample size is always more accurate
>>
>>7679297
>muh liberals

>>7679308
As I clearly explained (I'm guessing you ignored it while claiming >muh liberals), the difference is well within random variations and doesn't show great differences in skill or dedication.

If someone managed to get to the final 4, they've already proven that they are good enough to claim the top spot.
>>
>>7679320

And if I had wheels I'd be a bike.
>>
>>7679320
>doesn't show great differences in skill or dedication

Then they should be close enough to win. But as you said, they aren't. Which means there is a great enough difference to justify cumulative scores.
>>
>>7679373
Once again, you seem to have ignored my comment.
A small difference on it's own doesn't change or show much. Multiply that small difference over 9 rounds and you get something that's totally unsurmountable.

0.25 out of 20 over 9 rounds = quite irrelevant.
5 out of 20 over a single round = impossible to beat.

How is that hard to understand? If we follow your logic, there is no point in competing.
>>
>>7679421

Then they've gone as far as they can, just like literally everyone else in this competition.
>>
>>7679496
Nigger, can you read?

We've got 4 cooks with extremely close levels of skills. That's the point.

Cumulative scoring will decide everything based on nearly meaningless differences.

Also, you ignore the fact that all the previous rounds have been sudden death rounds. It makes no sense to change it now.
>>
>>7679527

>all the previous rounds have been sudden death rounds. It makes no sense to change it now

It makes perfect sense. All previous round scores were just to determine who won that round. The winner of this round will be the winner of the entire competition, so their scores throughout the entire competition should be taken into consideration.
>>
>>7679538
>All previous round scores were just to determine who won that round.
And that's where you're wrong. Lowest round score decided who was eliminated, not cumulative.
>>
>>7679549

Which is how it should be for this round too. Cumulative determines winner. Don't try and fix something that's not broke.
>>
>>7679549

How am I wrong? Lowest round score decided who was eliminated just like highest round score determined who won that round. This is for the entire contest, so this time I think it should be cumulative.
>>
>>7679555
>Which is how it should be for this round too.
>Cumulative determines winner.
These statements are mutually exclusive.

>>7679566
I've explained in detail why that way of thinking kills the competition.
>>
>>7679566
>>7679575
Can you 2 just kiss and make up? Yellowfaggot is gone now, that's the main thing.
>>
I've been lurking the past few rounds, I missed the beginning (real life has been crazy as fuck this year). Anyway, just want to wish good luck to the final competitors, you done good, guys.
Also, as far as the argument in this thread, I stand with sudden death. Cumulative scoring is for elimination purposes, the last round has always been sudden death, because now, in the final moments, it's up to the contestants to pull out everything in their arsenal. Hopefully I'll have time to check in and see what everyone did, (I'm basically playing hostess to a large group of Swedes and French people this week for work, so idk how much free time I'll have. )

Presentation: 4/5
Originality: 1/5
Appeal: 1/5
Challenge Goals: 1/5
Total: 7/20

When I was 7 years old I went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras with my Uncle Mitch. We were having a swell time until two attractive women caught his eye. He invited them back to our hotel room. When we got back, he told me to go play in the bathroom for an hour, so I did. About 15 minutes later one of the women came running in with blood coming from between her legs. My uncle was screaming but I didn't hear what he said. She slammed the door shut with me still inside. She ran into the shower, stepping on my GI Joes, and turned the shower on. She was crying about something, but I wasn't very interested. About 10 minutes later she turned the shower off and finally realized I was in the bathroom with her. She let out a little shriek that startled me. She said "Oh I'm sorry baby I didn't see you there". I assured her it was okay. She gets out of the shower and comes over to me. She is mostly naked but still has her torn stockings on. I've never seen a naked lady up to this point so I just stare at her. She asks "You like what you see baby?" I don't say anything. She comes over to me starts to rub my leg. I forgot to mention I was naked too because I'm allergic to cotton so I wore rubber clothes, but got hot very quickly so I always took them off when I got home. Anyways, she moves her hand up to my little penis and I get something resembling a boner. Albeit I was 7, so it might have just been gas. Several minutes pass and she says "Well this got boring quickly" and leaves the bathroom, then the hotel door slams. I go back to playing with my GI Joes until I fall asleep on the bathroom floor. The next morning my uncle is laying naked on the bed like he usually was. I wake him up and he takes us to breakfast. I have my usual shrimp etouffee and orange juice. My uncle and I regularly went on trips but this is one of the most memorable.

Presentation: 2/5
Originality: 2/5
Appeal: 5/5
Challenge Goals: 5/5
Total: 14/20

I'm really not sure how to score challenge goals for this round, but since you're all Cajun food I don't doubt this is something you make frequently. That said, there's nothing particularly original about the dish. The pate and bread looks good, but I don't consider them to really be part of all one dish. There seems to be too much rice, and the presentation would have been nicer if you left the chives whole, but it's still a 5/5 on appeal in my book.
>>
>>7681717
IF you don't know what I'm saying, it's the part of the body that is per•i•ne•um (pĕrˌə-nēˈəm)►

n.
The portion of the body in the pelvis occupied by urogenital passages and the rectum, bounded in front by the pubic arch, in the back by the coccyx, and laterally by part of the hipbone.

So in my case it would be the crotch area between my testicles and my asshole proper, NOT my inner thigh area AT ALL...

People criticized my nitpicking in previous rounds and called me as harsh as Gordon Ramsey. I've just been giving constructive criticism and trying to be as consistent as possible across the board with my scores. Discussing the dishes is what makes it interesting, not arguing about scores.
>>
My finals submission, and signature dish for Round 10:
Rustic Double Rubbed Ribs with Roasted Heirloom Carrots and Asparagus.

The intent I had for this dish was to really personify myself onto it. I consider myself an outdoorsman of sorts, and when I'm not in the kitchen I'm always looking to escape the city to do some fishing, camping or trail hiking. Rustic atmospheres draw me in and I'm able to forget the world exists for a little while. This dish contains earthy, meaty and natural flavors that I feel embody what you would find when mixing country and cuisine.

The ribs were given a dry rub and roasted low and slow for three hours. I departed from the slathering of barbeque sauce and instead double rubbed the meat and finished it for another fifteen minutes. The heirloom carrots were coated with oil and light vinegar, and the asparagus with lemon slices. Thyme, salt and cracked pepper were put on both when roasting. The garnish is a radish sprout with adds another layer of earthy depth to the overall dish.

I'll post the vertical tomorrow after work. It's late and there's not too many hours left in the night. Whatever the outcome it's been a fun challenge. You can expect me back next year. See you folks in the morning.

Presentation: Shitty picture quality and the plating isn't very exiting. Looks like you did the best you could with what you had though.
Originality: I'm not too familiar with cajun food, but a 3 seemed fair in this category because it didn't seem like anything groundbreaking.
Appeal: I actually almost gave this category a 2 because it's not really my thing, but I felt an overall 12 was unfair, so I bumped it up a point.
Challenge Goals: These were met imo.
>>7684934
Presentation: Although it's nothing special and the picture quality isn't the best, I find the plating visually appealing.
Originality: Not super original, but I felt the outdoorsman theme merited a 3.

More ribs and less carrots would have worked better, and it all looks pretty dry
>>
>>7685944

That's one of the problems with pictures only, you can't dig in and see for yourself how it turned out. I can tell you it was anything but dry however. With a double rub like this you develop a nice crispy and flavorful crust, but the insides remain moist and juicy. If anymore ribs were put on the plate the overall presentation would have been diminished too. I attempted to portion the food where everything were visible so you could eat with your eyes beforehand. More ribs would have covered the bed of vegetables and detracted from other elements on the plate.
>>
>>7685973
Personally i'd have gone for a longer rack of ribs with the carrots on the side

When I was 13 I went to Texas, I think it might have been around the Houston area. I went alone because my parents were dead and my uncle was in prison at this time. Anyways, I went to what I assume was Houston sometime in the summer. After the nice old man who gave me a ride dropped me off at my destination, I set out to find some food. I came upon this barbecue place. I forget the name of it, but it had a picture of a pig bending over with its anus exposed. I walked in and ordered chicken tenders because that was my favorite meal at the time. The man at the counter said "sorry kid we don't have chicken tenders. How about some barbecue chicken?" Before I could say yes, a colored gentleman ran through the door and leaped overt the counter, tackling the cashier while shouting "I SAID NO SAUCE!" Needless to say, I was very surprised. I ran for cover under the Terminator pinball machine. Several minutes later the police showed up and arrested almost everyone in the restaurant. To make a long story short, I never received my chicken, but I can only assume it was good.

When I was 5 years old, my father took me to see the doctor. This was a year after my mother turned up dead in the back of a school bus. Turns out she was strangled by the bus driver, while the bus was full of kids. The kids though it was a joke since the bus driver was dressed like Ronald McDonald. Anyways, the doctor my father took me to was Japanese. I remember not being able to understand anything he said. When he was tooth, I thought he was telling me to tell the truth. So I told him I touched myself quite regularly. And when he said lice, I thought he said rice. So everyday after the appointment, I checked my hair for rice. I was disappointed everytime. To make a long story short, after I pulled my pants up and my father took me home, we stopped by this vegetarian restaurant. I forget what I ate or if it was even a restaurant, but I do remember seeing cauliflower and asking my father why they painted to little trees white. Her told me it was because all Asians wanted to be white so they painted their food white. Oh, I forgot to mention the restaurant was owned by the doctor he took me to. Small world.

Yellowmug, any comment on your cheating during this challenge?
There's also reports that you deleted over 30,000 government secured e-mails which were based on an unsecured server.
What was your involvement in the JFK assassination? Did you really make a deal with Satan for that yellow mug?

I was too busy learning how to put together a vertical to hack into government stuff, am a little too young to have anything to do with the JFK assassination, and have no comment on the provenance of the yellow mug.

I would like to apologize the the autist whom I apparently traumatized by serving food in a dog bowl. You showed true creativity in the 50 different ways you came up with to accuse me of cheating, and maybe next year you can channel that into competing, and actually contributing something positive to the competition.

>>
>>7688007
The problem with Yellowmug is he can't take criticism at all. Starting from his dish of a squirrel apple served with leaves and chips he got super defensive and pissed off whenever someone critiqued it. Then he started saying 'i'm not yellowmug but my dish was amazing', because he thought claiming to be someone else made his samefagging more subtle. Then when he got low ratings with fair critique he'd magically start getting high ratings with 0 explanation.

Yellowmug is a sore loser and an exposed little bitch. More than one person noticed, Yellow.

ayyyyy lmao still one entire day left, plenty of time to vote.

Here's my final submission:
Yakisoba stir fry!

I'm a really big fan of stir-fry because of the simplicity of the whole thing: chop up your ingredients, cook on high heat, add your sauce and done!
Still, despite it being simple, it's super tasty and yields great results everytime.

I went for the classic Japanese stir fry as it's one of my favorite. The sweet and savory sauce packs a punch of flavor and the crunch of the vegetables make for a pleasant texture change.
Finally, I topped the noodles with Aonori for that classic look and taste.

It seems I can't take pictures for shit so I added a non-blurry close-up of the dish.

Thanks a lot to Bubbles for organizing this, I had a lot of fun making things I wouldn't normally do and I learned a lot. Thanks to all the contestants as well, you did a fantastic job!

Doing a quick stir fry with pre-made noodles was kind of a weak final entry, and doesn't look special or signature in any way. It looks like it was cooked fine, and probably tastes alright, but even the plating is sloppy.
>>
>>7691806
That's really harsh to be honest. Why couldn't it be a signature dish? If Dice does it often and well, that's a signature dish to me...

It's definitely going to be between Nack and Rei, so I'll put in my two cents on their dishes.

>Nack

It's hard to talk about ribs without tasting them, so I'll just assume they tasted good. I think the double rub may have been a mistake. It looks like it has that sandy/grainy texture that happens when it gets too 'rub'-y. If you didnt want barbecue sauce I would've recommended a mop sauce or a spritz or something.
It's plated nicely, but I think you may have gone a little heavy on the carrots. I would've liked to have seen a bigger variety of vegetables as a base.

Nevertheless, looks tasty and presented well.

>CookingRei

Congrats for breaking the bank and going with lobster.
My first reaction is that I like the idea of a mushroom pate, but I don't really know how it fits in with the dish. Seems like a random element.
Plating is pretty standard, but good nevertheless. Again it would come down the flavour, but your explanation seems like it would be good solid comfort food. It's nothing special nor does it seem like you took any risks here, I would've liked to have seen maybe a more difficult dish, or at least one with the elements married more successfully.
Also, big props for making the bread, it looks delicious.

My champion is. . .

>CookingRei

I'd maybe give a slight edge to Rei, but it's a toss up between these two dishes. I feel like it wasn't the greatest round for either of you, but you stuck it out the whole way so congrats, and keep cooking!
>>
>>7691679
>>7691781
Being a fan of stir fries, I'm glad you made one. I won't be voting since I would probably not be a good judge but it looks great and I would eat it for sure. Afaik, it's the best one out of the 4 entries closely followed by Nack's ribs.

It was really nice to see you guys cook stuff and I am def looking forward to next year. A big congratulation for all the contenders.
>>
>>7691859

The challenge goals for this round were probably the most ambiguous, but I interpreted signature dish as the one thing you do really well, but also pull out to impress people and say, "this is MY signature dish".

It looked like a well made stir fry, but it also looked like a quick week night meal, not something you'd make to impress someone. Stir fry is also the "signature meal" of half of /ck/, so there's also that.
>>
>>7691878

If it wasn't the final round it probably would have been a little higher. This was supposed to be the big, final, "give it everything you've got" round.

Using store bought noodles to make a basic, one pot dish that takes 20 minutes at most just seemed really lazy, and it didn't look like much effort was even put into making it look nice; it just looks like some take-out was haphazardly dumped onto a plate.

The ribs are upside- down. Riblettes would have looked better, stacked.
Ribs aren't too original, but un-smoked ribs even less.
The carrots and asp look like they could have been cleaned up. The tops and tips would have been better if not included. Height could have been achieved with this as well.
Reading your description, sounds like this isn't a signature dish that you make all the time.
The radish sprouts don't add a layer of "earthy depth". Stop doing that.

This does not appeal to me at all, but I can't believe that you would make this if it wasn't something that was already in your repertiour in some way.
Something I'd be interested to try.

>Yakisoba stir fry!
Kinda says it all. Adding noodles to cooked meat and veg doesn't make it yakisoba.
Not to say I wouldn't eat it, but...

Please give some justifications for your scores. With only 4 contestants, it's not a lot of work.

dont see anything in the rules that says i need to. youre lucky i came in here and voted at all.

You don't have to, but it's good practice to do so.

You should be voting on each category independently, not looking at the dish and saying, "that looks really good right now, I'd eat that, 18/20". Appeal only counts for 5 points at most.
>>
>>7693337
So you literally don't know what originality means then

Being from New Orleans, this makes me happy and sad. It's a good looking etouffee. But that mushroom pate was no business being on the plate. It doesn't go with the etouffee and seems like a last minute addition. Also I see no indication of a signature dish. Like you said, you cook cajun food, but did not mention this dish or ever cooking it before.

This dish is one bad decision after another. In a competition where we can only judge by looking at it, you made the decision to dry rub ribs and roast some veggies. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the driest looking plate of food I've seen in a while. This dish is screaming for sauce. Even if you would've put it on the side, your score would've gone up immensely. Also, I get that you tried to personify yourself in this meal, but I feel you could've executed your vision a lot better.

I'm not trying to mean, I'm really not. But this dish is very disappointing. With no explanation of why this is your signature dish, or even an explanation of why you paired these ingredients, I find myself confused. This looks like something an amateur cook makes to impress their mother. I'm sure it tasted fine, but in a competition where I can't taste it, I'm forced to go by looks and appeal only.

I'm dumbfounded as to why you didn't make your own noodles. It's the final round, this is supposed to be your signature dish, and you make a very simple stir fry with premade noodles. I feel like you were just making dinner and decided to use it as your entry. Your saving grace is that it does look good. Very good actually.
>>
>>7693548
I also want to clarify something.

I want to commend these 4 contestants for staying in the competition despite the negative attitude that had consumed it. Due to trolls and just outright bad people, I feel like contestants this year just stopped caring.

just because you don't agree with my scoring doesn't mean it should count. grow up pal.
>>
>>7693566
Except it does, when the scoring is a system split into individual categories that you choose to disregard. Saying 'I don't like fish' doesn't validate giving a bowl of noodles double the originality of something that whether you like it or not, was more original.

Your scoring and opinions are invalid, until you develop a brain anyway.
>>

It's kinda obvious who is going to win this now. Fanboys and fangirls have come to the rescue and lashed out at anything that pushes the envelope of creativity or that challenges the lower scores given to their desired winner. This challenge is historically a circlejerk anyway. Popularity and legacy will prevail rather than talent, risk-taking and cuisine diversity.
