I do prefer cold salami over cold bologna, though. Unless it's garlic and jalapeño bologna, which is the ultimate of the mechanically-reclaimed-meat-based deli offerings.
daaaam those were a treat growing up. My mom grew up dirt poor so fried bologna sandwiches were a staple in her childhood. She hated making them for us as kids because repressed memories of poverty.

I was first introduced to them (on onion bagels with American oil cheese and a fried egg) while I was at university in the US. The roommate I had my second semester had me try it and I liked it.
