It's inherently bad on choice cuts of meat, and anything else that is flavorful by itself. Meatloaf isn't exactly "top shelf" meat, so might as well add the ketchup. But you could make your own 'ketchup' if you want a more fresh taste. Just tomatoes, vinegar and sugar with your choice of spices.
