I think you're thinking about "ancient grains" which doesn't really refer to native American crops, just crops uncommonly used in modern times (at least in major countries) that were used by a group before.
"Wild rice" is grains that are more like wild variations/undomesticated.
I could be totally wrong though it's not like I wasted my time searching this up this is just the impression experience gives me.
