Michelin Star and Guide Thread
What do you think of the guide
I rule in favor of declaring it yes
Indeed.
That feel when you love cooking but are too old to get in the game and get your 3 Michelin Stars.
Based on my own limited experience, I basically agree with their ratings.
Anyone who disagrees either has very little experience in fine dining, or too much experience to be on /ck/.
>tl;dr michelin rated restaurants uphold a very obvious level of quality and the people who criticize the system only do so because they eat at those kind of restaurants regularly and feel that they can make an opinion about particular judgement calls
Restaurants get 1 star for good food.
Restaurants get 2 stars for great service.
Restaurants get 3 star for making sure everything else is perfect.

Cooking alone isn't going to get you even a single michelin star.

Having worked in a number of kitchens, I find that impressive.
Above all, the fact that there are that many people working almost silently on one dish, without even a Gordon Ramsay type chef needing to bark at everyone.

I'm sick of those skidmarks on a plate
I'm sick of those presentations where you don't know what anything is and you're sure something that is there wasn't supposed to be there and something that isn't was
20 courses of tiny food instead of 3 big courses of food
Never enough gravy
My favorite restaurant in Marseille isn't listed, so I consider Michelin irrelevant.
