My gf moved in with me and insists on cooking for us even though she's shit at cooking.

What should I do?
>>
>>7498022
cuck her by getting your mom to move in with you and cook all your meals.
>>
Tell her she's shit at cooking. Offer to help her learn and cook with her. You're too much of a bitch to tell her the truth though so I dunno kill yourself I guess.
>>
Maybe help her with it and tech her to be a better cook? Cook together maybe?

What kind of human being would ask such a question?
>>
>>7498023
>cuck
word means nothing anymore
>>
>>7498022
Did you ever think you were the shit one at cooking? Maybe she just hates your cooking? Why don't you cook together?
>>
>>7498023
Good one.

>>7498029
I've told her and I think it only made her more stubborn about doing it.

>>7498035
>Maybe help her with it and tech her to be a better cook? Cook together maybe?
She gets very upset when I try to instruct her or if she doesn't do something well, I think it's a matter of insecurity. Women tend to take such stuff personally much more than men.

>What kind of human being would ask such a question?
What's so horrible about my question?

She's a perfectly good gf so long as she stays out of the kitchen.
>>
>>7498042
shut up cuck
>>
>>7498049
>She gets very upset when I try to instruct her or if she doesn't do something well, I think it's a matter of insecurity. Women tend to take such stuff personally much more than men.

Maybe try helping her without telling her she sucks. People tend not to take that well.

The question isn't horrible but it just reeks of bad social skills.
>>
>>7498052
>2016
>using "cuck" unironically
>>
>>7498058
>Maybe try helping her without telling her she sucks. People tend not to take that well.

If she's doing something wrong and needs to do it differently there's no way around it.

She's still a student and tends to come home earlier than me. I used to come back and take the time to make a nice dinner for myself, enjoying both the process and the food.

Now I come back home to find dinner waiting for me which would be fine if it was any good, which it usually isn't. It also robs me of cooking myself which was a small pleasure in itself.

Also due to this arrangement we can't really cook together except on weekends.
>>
>>7498049
>Women tend to take such stuff personally much more than men.

Consider if it has anything to do with your instructional style. Hopefully you haven't completely sensitized her to the topic to the point that taking the diplomatic route like >>7498058 suggested is impossible.

Anyway, I suggest cooking with her. And that might mean offering to help and only doing what she asks you without complaining even while watching her fuck other shit up. When you ask her to help you in the kitchen in turn you can ask her to help with tasks that build basic kitchen skills. Give a bit of instruction on doing it "the way you like" but don't be overbearing. What you're going for here is to teach her a few things without being condescending, and to either get her to try doing things differently based on watching you or even ask for advice on her own. Whatever you do, do not try to take over projects when she's cooking, she'll likely feel like you're patronizing her and if she does she'll be right.

This really pretty much boils down to "don't be a dick" though.
>>
I've been married for 3 years and my wife can't cook for shit

Just do it yourself OP, if she starts complaining about your food being boring tell her to stfu and go buy pizza for yourself and don't share

Works for me
>>
>>7498042
Did it ever, around here?
>>
>>7498081
Sounds like your marriage is off to a great start.
>>
Me and my girlfriend have been living together for two years and when we first moved out together she said the same thing about wanting to cook. Although I knew I was a better cook, I let her cook whenever she wanted to, knowing that she'd eventually get tired of it, or eventually realize, whenever I'd cook, that her cooking was obviously inferior to mine.

>>
>>7498022
Be happy a woman loves you. I've been single 10 years, and cook myself amazing meals that I eat all alone. I'll trade you.
>>
>>7498049
Well since you are on 4chan I will assume you have shit social skills so I will say this: people often object to an idea because of the tone in which it is presented.

Don't EVER tell her she is shit at cooking. Of course she is going to get defensive. What are you a damn moron?

One of the other niggers in this thread said to tell her "this is how I like it/like to do it" and that is exactly what you should do. She is obviously trying to buy into the domesticity meme so let her do that by showing her what you like (read: actually cooking well) so she can please you. It lets her save face too and she can think to herself "well I KNOW how to do this right but my dumbass bf likes it this way lol"

try that out and then come back if she is still stonewalling you
>>
>>7498223
>try that out and then come back if she is still stonewalling you

She'll probably be stonewalling him because he fucked up by getting frustrated and tried to take over. Frankly if he's really as much better as he says, she probably knows. Being respectful and giving her a way to save face instead of just going "UR DOIN IT RONG GIV IT HERE" goes a long way.

I wasn't there so I can't say for sure that's what he's doing, but between her reaction and this being 4chan I think it's a good guess.
>>
>>7498189
It was a rhetorical question, friend.
>>
>>7498022
Let her cook a few times a week. Eventually she will learn and you both will be happy. Don't be too critical about her mistakes she wants to cook for you cause she luvs u which is qt.
>>
>>7498058
>>7498078
In my experience women can't take any criticism. If you go about it nicely they don't listen and think you're undermining them. Go about it normally and you're being mean.
>>
>>7498135
When's the last time you asked a girl out?
>>
>>7498022
Same here... and mines a raw vegan. Fuck my life.

Don't worry, I cuck her with cheeseburgers whenever she isn't around
>>
>>7498022
Either teach her to cook or, if you suck at it as well, try to cook and learn together. Choose a good recipe source and everything will be fine.
>>
>>7498049
It seems she is well into the "a women must cook for her man" shit.
Try to talk about your roles in the couple and make her understand that she is no less of a woman if she doesn't cook for her man.
Maybe engage her in more "man activities" with you.

>she is no less of a woman if she doesn't cook for her man
It does though.
>>
>>7498066
You like cooking, tell her that sometime you just want to cook.
Also, cook together but as equals, not you teaching her. If she is insecure about fulfilling her role as a woman (cook for the man), she will definitely not accept being taught.
With time, she'll eventually improve.
>>
>>7498390
Yeah but nobody is expecting her to, it is not her duty.
Without that pressure she may be more incline to accept not to cook, cook together and/or learn.
>>
>>7498349
You're fucking doomed, dude.
>>
>>7498022
tell her you'd like to cook at least a couple nights a week because it is something you find enjoyable and relaxing. when its your turn to cook, make something that she has made before, but just completely blow her away with how much better yours is. do it a few times and maybe she'll concede the cooking to you.

my wife has basically stopped cooking dinners even though she has a more flexible work schedule than me and is often home an hour or two before i am. she handles other chores and we eat dinner late because we both know its worth waiting for me to get home and make it. plus i find cooking a really nice way to wind down after work and she recognizes that.
>>
>>7498022
give some examples of how she's shit at cooking.
>>
>>7498042
stfu and fluff me you miserable cuck
>>
>>7498259
If you're seeing that much consistency in your experience with women you're either working from a very small sample size, or the reactions have more to do with your behavior than to do with them being women.
>>
>>7498022
Train that bitch until she gets it right.
>>
>>7498022
Just come inside her repeatedly that should fix it.
>>
>>7498022

Say that you like cooking, and try alternating cooking night for a few weeks, then cook together. The first few weeks will teach her that she's shit at cooking (or rather she'll realize it herself), and after that she'll be able to learn from you.
>>
>>7498723
Or it could teach her that anon is shit at cooking and want to do it herself and then come here and make a thread about it.

Because often it isn't different skill, just different tastes.
>>
>>7498618
This reminds me of my grandparents. The soup has a bit too much salt? My grandfather becomes stony faced and stops talking, and my grandmother goes neurotic over it for hours.
>>
>>7498627
This.
This anon knows his shit.
>>
>>7498263
Oh...
>>
>>7498828
You bet the sex was great.
>>
cooking with her sounds like it would be fun

my ex-gf literally thought I was a faggot for wanting to cook with her, but she also had a bunch of other dumb ass ideas on masculinity though and is dating a chad now so fuck her

wtf a baguette bag ?
>>
>>7498022
In no way tell her that her food sucks, she will hate you. My girlfriend is so bad at cooking that i can't even hide it anymore, I can't even eat up a single plate because I get sick if I do.
Want an example?
Her vegan version of pancake batter is:
oatmeals, water, banana and cinnamon mixed in a blender until it becomes a greyish sludge. then she puts it in a nearly cold pan without oil, puts some lumps of that stuff in there and still manages to burn them.
the result is a dry, thick lump wich tastes like burnt oatmeal with a hint of banana.
She can tell by my face if it tastes bad and is always disappointed in me.

I really hope for you it's not that bad in your case because if it is there's no getting out.

This. People vastly underrate how important it is to let others save face when they're wrong.
Especially gfs/bfs.
Except, of course, if you've got great banter skillz.
>>
Just be happy you have someone who cares about you enough to consistently cook for you. You may not enjoy her food but a lot of relations involve compromise.

If she's observant you may be able to teach her passively by cooking what you enjoy a couple times a week. A fair share of my cooking skills were picked up by watching people who I thought were better cooks than myself.
>>
>>7498950
How do you fail a vegan pancakes? They're most of the way there by default.
>>
>>7498950
What? Does she consider flour non-vegan?
>>
>>7498390
I've never understood this. Women can't cook. I've never met a woman who can cook. Women of mine and my mother's generation don't cook because of feminism, women of my grandparents generation don't cook because they became addicted to the magical microwave or only ate canned food because they were getting german'd. Women can do all kinds of shit, but they can't cook. Unless you're brown.
>>

>>

>>
>>7498022
the only correct response is to be honest and tell he she can't cook, but you'd be happy to help her learn to cook properly
>>
>>7498022
Teach her how to cook?
>>
Take a cooking class together.
That way you're doing something together, and someone else is making her feel bad about messing up.
>>
>>7498022
Well, the only way she's going to get better at cooking is to keep practicing, so fucking let her cook. Also, try to show her (in a fun, nice way) new techniques and tips to make better food.
>>
>>7499656
Patently untrue.
I come from a 100% white devil family and all the women in my family can cook and cook well. Family reunions are fucking CRAZY overflowing with awesome food. The only things the guys cooks is bbq, but that's so they can hang out outside and drink beer (and even then, it's the women who come out to tell them when to turn the meat or add more wood, or baste or whatever).
I think it depends more on where you grew up/where you live now, and what kind of people you hang around.
>>
>>7499902
Yeah. Feminism '90s on doesn't even discourage domestic prowess. That's the '70s era bra burning type.
>>
>>7499905
you're wrong but in a way you're right. Feminism as it is now is basically the same as it always was, just add the internet to make everyone suddenly at eachothers proverbial doorstep to soapbox on and suddenly it looks like an influx of idiots.

Honestly the men in my family seem to know how to cook, but when it comes to creativity we're the ones who have it down, not them. Men seem to be happy with campfire food and simpler meals. I've only seen women in charge of catering. Thats not a bad thing. I love campfire food just as well, and sometimes I'll cater for the sole purpose of making that specific kind of feel for the meal.
>>
>>7498022
Cook with her & teach her how to cook good, if your not good at cooking both of you should be learning to cook. Simple as that. If you refuse to cook & her cooking is bad then step it up mang.
>>
>>7499635
How the fuck are pancakes most of the way there, unless you think Bisquick + water is real pancakes.

In most pancake recipes the only animal product called for is milk sometimes you'll also see butter or an egg as well.

Milk can be substituted with any other liquid, even water. Butter can be subbed with any plant based fat. Egg is a completely optional ingredient.

goddamnit topkek

the age old question needs the age old answer, op. you gotta cook FOR her, and you've got to SHOW her that you know what you're talking about. phase two is to slowly and subtly give her hints and just kind of push her in the right direction, while not being overbearing or highbrow about it. the trick is to slowly over time get her to see what is right and what is wrong, but it's like handling an egg (you like i worked food wordplay in there? i do), if you do it too roughly it'll fuckin crack and she won't want to take your shit any more. it's hard, man, especially when you LOVE being right as much as i do, but patience is key. cook WITH her, but be careful not to be the kitchen overlord.

godspeed OP
