I'm in the carpentry industry (but not personally an on the jobsite job) and get lots of interest when it comes up while I'm at the cafe. There's a lot of new shit happening in construction right now, and a lot of the hipster types I talk to are fascinated by it. Hipster coffee doesn't always mean tumblr coffee. The tumblr crowd is really more of a second wave shop (which is definitely what the op pic is, no self respecting third wave shop would have half the shit on that menu) group than third anyway.
Oh, and journeyman carpenters make like 70k a year even in Missouri on commercial jobs. And more than half that in benefits on top of it. Other construction trades make (very) substantially more. The poorfag construction thing tends to come from much of the group being crude and rough around the edges.

Blueprint is great too. For filter or roasted beans I'd rate them about even, but Sump higher for shots more often than not. I work about a mile and a half from Sump, so it's just the most convenient for me. Still need to check out Comet.

There's a couple extremely serious coffee places here that make flawless drip and espresso from beans roasted on site.
I would go a lot more often but both of the suffer from clinical decor/atmosphere, sky high prices, uncomfortable furniture, myopic menus, and aggressively pretentious staff.
I prefer the place I posted because even though the coffee is marginally worse they are comfy, friendly and serve lots of tasty things other than sacramentally pure coffee
