What about time? I'm paid 26.30 at work, how would that translate into prep time and jarring?
>>
>>7478085
So basically what you're saying is canning your own pork and beans isn't really really worth it?
>>
>>7478087
yes, time
i'd say it's about an hour of actual work
but the whole process (minus soaking the beans) takes an afternoon

i make $38.50/hr but i make nothing during my free time

you pretty much have to do this on season if you want it to work though yes? the appeal of canned tomatos is that they are supposed to be canned when tomatos are ripe and grown in season for a better taste yeah?
>>
>>7478308
yes, if you buy them out of season it's not economical at all
where i live they come in season in late august so i do a couple bushels then.. this year i only did one for some reason and now i'm almost out

they really do taste amazing though.. the commercial ones don't compare.. i think they get jostled too much in transit or something
