Hey cu/ck/s of amerifat

What food is your city or state known for?
I'm from the shitty state of Maryland so it's crabs
>>
>>7470707

i'm a canafag, live in alberta. we are known for our beef, wheat, and taber sweet corn.
>>
Texas. BBQ, beef, sausage, big steaks, tex mex, Mexican food, Whataburger, taco trucks.
>>
>>7470707
Kc is known for its bbq but that's really about it.
>>
>>7470707
Oregon
We're known for our hipsters that dress like they're homeless
>>
>>7470722
And you eat the hipsters?
>>

we have some bbq i guess. i've never eaten bbq here. i think "st. louis pizza" is kind of a thing too, but really shitty
>>
>>7470729
Yea. We have to keep the population in check somehow.
>>

NYC, so basically, being better than you
>>
LA
street tacos, although you can get them in any major city in a boarder state
>>
>>7470707
Tucson, so Eegee's. It's a sub joint that serves a cheap version of Italian ice. Enjoyable, but I wish it were something else, like how Hatch, NM has Chiles.
>>
Minneapolis, MN

Jucy Lucy and cheese curds I guess
>>
Chicago, we're best known for a type of pizza that nobody here actually eats, and for feigning outrage at ketchup on hotdogs, for the memes.

Italian beef is the shit though.
>>
>>7470865

Go eat some NUU YOOORK pizza and choke on it.

Chicago does have the best memes. And any thread about anything from that city attracts autism and asshurt like a magnet.

But you do, cleetus. You do.
>>

>>

We defiantly refer to ourselves as the "Second City", while arguably being the third most important. Fighting for a silver medal. There's a civic inferiority complex, citywide chip on the shoulder.

Stuffed pizza is great, the actual cornmeal-crust "tomato and cheese casserole" shit is for tourists. I don't get how people get worked up over it.

>>
>>7470933

You wanna give me the shit about how it came up from the Chicago Fire? Or about how it was the second large metropolis in America? We're only second chronologically. The origin of the phrase doesn't matter (wanna bicker about "the windy city"? I've always preferred "City of Big Shoulders", myself) but in common usage, that's what it is. Jockeying for second place.

Got a bit of a love/hate thing going.
>>
Texas. bbq for the typical amerifats and gourmet tacos for the Austin hipsters. to be fair though both are really good.

Mississippi. So, fried catfish and soul food. Pretty much fried everything, chicken is common as well. Southern sides are based tho, shit like squash casserole and turnip greens can be some of the best food you'll ever eat if done right. We're also a gulf state and get a ton of creole influences from New Orleans. Lots of good seafood places.

Decent bbq too, mostly KC/Memphis style sauce.

As far as dipping fried catfish, I've always kept it simple: ketchup or tartar if they make it fresh. Hot sauce never hurt anything though.

Seattle here. Out of town guests always want salmon, clam chowder and Dick's hamburgers. We have a lot of good breweries in town too.
>>
Michigan
Chili dogs with mustard and onion
Butter coated rectangular pizza
Having a brewery every few miles
Polish vodka
Tons of Mexican, polish, and Arabic food

This is all mostly within the 40 miles in and around detroit.

The college towns have a lot of hipster joints that are pretty good, vegan restaurants and coffee shops and the like. There's beer throughout the state with a reputable brewery within 50 miles of any direction from any point in the state, except maybe the UP but that's basically shitty Canada.

It's IPAs man. Not saying there's anything wrong with an IPA per se, but it's taken over craft beer. More hops! More bitter! I've lived in Phillips yet the best cheese steak I've had a from some holiday Inn in Florida. What I liked was the FL version was on one of those shitty Amoroso rolls. Instead they picked one that tasted good. Lived in jersey which has that same NY style pizza but I think of s/w Ohio as my fav

cape may/wildwood new jersey

never heard of it? that because you aren't from philly or a more northern new jersey.

what we are known for: probably seafood. we have a couple marinas most notably the one at "The Lobster House" where you can get shit right off the boat. its a restaurant and fish market so you can either buy and take shit home or order some pretty decent food there. they also have a raw bar if you are into that. its funny, the thing i hear people shocked about when they come here is that the parking lots are filled with seashells instead of gravel. its really common here. anyway, we aren't a big food town, just a bunch of surfbillies hunting and fishing and being alcoholics.

and nah i have no idea who that is, i might be too old. age or more details?

>bizzare foods
Really? Doesn't seem that bizarre, maybe just because I grew up with it. But considering that so many cafes offer coffee beverages that are so light and sweet they're practically coffee milk, anyway. Also, coffee ice cream is a thing in other states, right?

It's great for me because I can't stand actual coffee, but the slight sweet/bitterness of coffee flavoring in milk is excellent.

Southeast New England here, again. Anyone else in the country have Portuguese chourico or linguica? I know in the southwest they have "chorizo" but it's really not the same. They're sublime on a nice Greek-style pizza with green peppers. They make pepperoni seem even more irrelevant than it already is.

>>7475435
I guess eventually they run out of truly "bizarre" foods and just gotta work with what they've got.

Try General Tso's sauce with some pig, since that's what cannibalized glazed buman tastes closely to.

For those who don't know, General Tso had his men cannibalize 20-30,000 civilians to survive in a war and made a sauce to make it more palatable, and it's now a popular amerinese food fish, General Tso's Chicken

Everywhere that has a lot of microbreweries is bound to have a lot of shitty ones that churn out shitty copies of the trendy beer of the month, but we do have some pretty good ones: Fremont, Georgetown, Holy Mountain, Maritime Pacific, Schooner Exact, Populuxe, to name a few.

Anyone who thinks Maryland is shit doesn't have interesting enough friends to show them the cool parts of the state. Also, crabs and crabcakes are amazing, but Maryland is also known for pit beef, bull roasts, and Berger cookies. There are also some regional food practices that I've discovered to be pretty unique there such as eating your fries with Old Bay or vinegar.

Maybe it's because I grew up in Baltimore, but I still prefer my favorite barbecue joints to any of the regionally famous styles. The meat at the Corner stable is typically more tender and the sauce is sweet.

Indiana. For some reason we're known for breaded pork tenderloins. I've even been emphatically told that you can only ever get them in this state.

Like people from other states have yet to develop the technology needed to deep fry a specific part of a pig, or that pigs only exist in this state.

PittsburghFag here

Our idea of cuisine is putting fries and coleslaw on a sandwich or eating pirogi

Anon, how are these breaded tenderloins, any special prep unique to Indiana or local foods used in prep
>>
>>7479584

I actually don't partake in them. Have maybe had less than 10 in my life and the last was years and years ago.
>>
>>7479584
Pretty good, though its mostly the size of the tenderloin thats the main attraction.
I've eaten tenderloins that were literally larger than my own head, though for some reason they still consider it a regular sandwhich, and use normal sized buns, which end up looking retardedly small compared to the thing.

Oh, and theres always a couple slices of pickle on it.
Always with the pickles.
