Is this a /ck/ exclusive meme? What does it mean? How can we stop it? Where can they be?
>>
jerk
>>

>Is this a /ck/ exclusive meme
no
>What does it mean
refers to the mostly white, mostly suburban or rural people in the central part of this country with low/no cultural experience and don't know what's outside of their small bubble
>we
lol

just told ya

If your state doesn't touch an ocean, it's a flyover, no question. Just my 2 cents.

>Is this a /ck/ exclusive meme?

No

> What does it mean?

Completely irrelevant areas of the United States, as in the only time anyone with taste will be there is when they're flying over it.

> Where can they be?

Pretty much anything that isn't on the coast and most things on the coast as well.
>>
Flyover
aka. If your region was settled by western Europeans then you couldn't possibly have any culinary culture to offer up to someone with such refined tastes as myself. /tips fedora
>>
"Flyover" just means "Not the NYC metro area" since large parts of the east coast is considered backwards or irrelevant by supposedly enlightened people, and they don't actually like California anyway.
>>
>>7407028
I thought everyone who said flyover was some /usa/ (/int/) crossboarder.
>>
>>7409863
Nah, it's pretty common.

I don't think non-US anons really grasp how much NOTHING is between the coasts.

It's also where most of our worst stereotypes come from. The majority of the midwest/flyover states are comprised of fat retards that haven't read anything that isn't the bible or a get rich quick scam. They also are the ones who shriek the loudest about needing guns to defend from ISIS, just in case they want to take over Harry's Hardware in Bumfuck, Missouri.
>>
>>7409875
Oh, I know it's a real term, but I meant the shitposters or whathaveyous that scream LOL U SUC U NO TASTE FLYOVER LOLOLOLLOTROLOLOLLO and shit.
>>
>>7409876
Oh, yeah, I gotcha.

It sucks because "flyover country" really does describe the vast processed cheese/Salisbury steak filled waste land that is the American Midwest

Rednecks don't read the Bible. They memorize quotes that suit them. You could pick a ton of stuff from the Bible, claim it was from the Quran, and they'd use it as proof we needed to glass the Middle East.

But, don't take that as me shitting on the Midwest or Southeast. I live in Kentucky and downtown Lexington is the best middle ground I've resided in for having diversity, decent range of different industries, and good food without being insanely high rent or too congested.

The problem when it comes to food is one of standards. There are parts of the country where the restaurants are pretty much only chains, and the supermarket is the only source of groceries. The food culture has not been given the shot in the arm immigrants have brought to many coastal areas. So the people living there are much less worldly in their tastes than the rest of the country. Being landlocked many people there are not fond of seafood, because it just hasn't been part of the diet. This is the land of Kellogg's, General Mills, Betty Crocker, Hormel, Kraft and Tyson, so the norm is cheap, heavily processed foods. Couple this norm with a cultural tendency in these to embrace the norm and shun anything that seems foreign or too fancy and the food culture gets really grim really quickly. And the people are so used to eating grim shit like pic related that many of them are frightened by anything with actual flavor. Bland shit like Ranch dressing rules the day.

Even people who cook tend to lean toward a semi-homemade aesthetic, making cakes from boxed mix and pic related from cans of condensed cream soups. So even home cooked meals are the result of combining a few shortcut convenience products rather than starting with actual ingredients and cooking them.

The irony of this is that these parts of the country cover some of our best agricultural land. There are still small family farms growing some of the best ingredients you can get. But most folks are too busy lining up at the Olive Garden to give a shit about that. Because being too concerned over the quality of what you eat makes you pretentious in their view.

Most Europeans can't place an american city that isn't NYC on the map.

I don't get the flyover meme. People accuse me of being flyover all the time even though my area is filled with culinary delights from around the world.

Lol it originated in real life because tons of people living on the coasts view the midwest as a boring, uncultured place.

Hell, it probably originated from people in LA or new york specifically in the years when boston was seen as more working class and less yuppified, and seattle and portland and san francisco weren't trendy yet.
>>
>>7410489

It's rapidly becoming out-of-date as globalization and immigration spread.
>>
>>7410288
This is what makes me laugh. Vouching for the human garbage that makes up 75% of the east and west coasts.

> Yep they must be foodies because they are eating ramen in a 200sq ft dump in the bronx.
>>
>>7410470
Insulting people using work you cannot do is pretty ineffectual.
>>
>>7410489
The truth is it's just as easy to find terrible food in NYC or LA as it is to find great stuff in Chicago or the Twin Cities. But that doesn't change the fact that in some parts of the country the standards for food are really low. West Virginia is a great example, as is most of Ohio and central Wisconsin. I've driven across the country several times, and anywhere you go you can find something good to eat, but in some places it's much more difficult than others. And those places do tend to be those where almost every face you see is white and almost all the restaurants are chains. And there are still hundreds (thousands?) of miles of this in the country. Not in major cities anymore, but in plenty of more isolated places the standards for food really do go to hell.
>>
>>7407028
Flyovers are flyovers because they're (relatively) irrelevant in comparison to non-flyovers. Major financial institutions aren't based in flyovers. Tech companies aren't based in flyovers. Most cultural production doesn't happen in flyovers. The best universities aren't in flyovers. And so on. They'll never really escape their status.

>all the autistic hipsters in portland, new york and san franshitsco die of starvation

If only Donald Trump added this to his list of planned policies, his victory would be assured.
>>
Actually most food comes from California..
You just grow subsidize corn that gets turned into ethanol
>>
>>7410877
Fuck yes. Regressive leftist scum can go to hell for all I care.
>>
If you don't live in NYC, LA or SF then, congratulations, you're living in a flyover. DC isn't strictly a flyover but you should treat it as one.

In practical terms, it means that whatever you're eating is, at best, second rate compared to the aforementioned cities.
>>
>>7410877
>flyover states refuse to produce food
>cut out our meat industry which would no longer be supported
>lean more heavily on small farming endeavors, maybe get more imports
>nothing changes except prices
Flyover states can kiss my Yankee ass. They wouldn't stop producing food either, they're living off their government subsidization.
>>
>>7410908
>gets turned into ethanol
About 13%.
And considering production and multiplied by leaps and bounds in the last 30 years, we're still growing may more for food than before the advent of major ethanol production.
But it did raise the price of grain worldwide and lead to riots in Latin America, SE Asia and Africa.
So it's understandable how it could be considered morally reprehensible on that level.
Despite this, the population of Africa has doubled during this period, having multiplied 5x over in the last 50 years and being projected to multiply a further 5x over in the next 50 by the United Nations (feel free to google it).
>>7407028
>what does it mean
It's been around a lot longer than internet image boards. Most people are fucking idiots, especially the ones calling anyone who isn't from one of the 10 largest US cities 'flyover'.
>What does it mean?
There's an implication that anyone who isn't from the largest metropolitan (see: overcrowded cesspools of crime and corruption) is a stupid redneck with no understanding of the greater world. That those people who inhabit these 'flyover' areas are uncultured, unrefined, unworldly, stupid, backward rednecks.
They don't understand that pretty much everyone in the US gets the same television, music, news, multimedia and that the same fresh ingredients aren't really much farther from Iowa and Montana than they are from NYC.
My mother is an amazing cook and so is my grandmother.
You should see my sister and all of her friends and their ridiculous pinterest foodie nonsense.
It's really more about what type of parents/family you have than about your location when it comes to how you eat as both a child and what you feel compelled to experience/take part in as an adult.
>>7409875
>NOTHING is between the coasts
It's unfortunate that most people only think of urban hellholes and the sprawl that accompanies it as 'something' and everything else is to be derided.
>>
>>7410619
If your kitchen is full of processed corn and soy products, commodity grade meat and sketchy dairy.
>>
>>7409875
>comprised of fat retards
The obesity variance between CA and most of 'flyover' is only 10-15%. One more person in 10. Which is still disgusting, but it doesn't warrant condemning the entire population of those states (the other 60-80%).
And Colorado has the lowest obesity rate in the country.
>retards
http://www.edweek.org/ew/dc/2015/map-graduation-rates-by-state-student-group.html
Interesting when you look at the total compared to the ethnic breakdown from state to state.
Flyover apparently still pressures their minorities to graduate as opposed to let most of them degenerate into worthless criminals.

Holy shit, that looks like me minus the piercings and hair coloring.

Btw, CEO/upper echelon pay rate has risen at a disparate rate to the average worker pay rate. I could give a fuck how wealthy someone is, but if the pay rates for the higher ups vs the underlings is this skewed, what you have is a redistribution system that benefits the top at the expense of the bottom...essentially socialism in reverse.

Niggers need to get their shit together, plain and simple. The government hasn't had a system in place to eliminate blacks, in fact they've gotten a large amount of assistance from the government. I strongly feel the stupid culture of being afraid to "act white" is what hurts them more than anything the government has ever done. I do think police could benefit from some reformation to the militancy we've seen as of late, but I feel police militarization is an issue both sides of the aisle despise.

Yeah beef would go up to 10 bucks a pound.

It'd be a little hard to pay for your studio apartment in San Fran where the rent is $4000 a month when you're also spending a lot on food huh?

It's just a dumb meme to trigger defensive autists. Anyone with a brain should know that it's not really *where* you're located as much as your proximity to a city with any decent number of people. You can get good to great food in every mid- to big-tier city. If you live in a cornfield far away from a city, then yeah, you're most likely dealing with McDonald's-tier chain restaurants, but may have a shot at having a good mom 'n pop diner, for instance.

All C.U.C.S. are eventually overcome by living in their own filth, stacked on top of one another, much like rats in a cage, and this leads to psychotic behaviors and a desire to lash out at their fellow man from the hell that is their urine and exhaust scented urban slums. That's why the Coastal Urbanite Containment Sites were established in the first place, anon.

However, unlike the mindless C.U.C.S. that try to use anger and venom to placate their feelings of helplessness and inadequacy, I recommend we use sympathy and kindness to try and ease their suffering a bit.

Pic related: what the world looks like to non-C.U.C.S.

Indiana native here,
Why is everyone so butthurt over this? Indy is totally a flyover, we do have hella fat retards, and as long as you aren't one and can find the good food (or make your own food)...
why would you get offended?
Also, for OP, a list of flyover states:
Indiana
Ohio
Most of Illinois (anything that not Chicago)
Kentucky

Oklahoma
The dakotas
Wyoming
Idaho
Nebraska
Arkansas
Montana
Utah
Alabama
There's a lot of them..
