Actually, Cleveland uses real sugar because the water is clean enough to use real sugar since it doesn't need Corn syrup's bacteria-killing propertiers . In 1985, the FDA tested the water supply of all of the cities with bottling plants, and Cleveland was the only city with a water supply suitable for producing Coca-Cola without corn syrup. This is because Cleveland had a unique water purification system still active to this day, where the water is boiled in order to remove any impurities and kill bacteria. It's known as the Cleveland Steamer. It's actually really cool, but I'm on mobile now so I can't link. Search "cleveland steamer videos" and you should be able to find footage. Definitely worth checking out, there's nothing in the world like it.
