Why? So you can "make omelettes" without getting up from your computer chair?

no, for canning while i'm travelling in my van
>>
What do you need it for? Under what conditions, and for what will it be used to cook? If you're a transient, get a solid fuel stove. If you're dirt poor, but have a cheap place that doesn't have a kitchen, get something with a warranty or good reviews. If you're a caterer, get one made for industrial applications. If you're a meth cook, hold onto meth ingredients and step into fire.

i want to go out east during clam season, gather some clams, park my van ocean side for a few days and can some delicious clams

ever had home canned clams? they're the best ever

i have various camping stoves but i feel a nice big hot plate will have better temp control and be able to accommodate my massive canning pot

How are you going to power it? Most portable burners take a long time to heat up and don't get very hot, and if you are limited to a shitty power source, that will make it worse. Look into a solid element instead of a coil if using a massive pot because durability. After you get one, heat it up for a while to make sure how far away from any flammable material it needs to be when on. Some portable burners leak heat horribly through the sides and underside. Those are the things I would consider, anyway. Best wishes and prime enjoyment in your clam endeavors.

hmm didn't know about the heat leaking problem..

i've never had one.. some are like $200 i thought they'd be decent

i was planning on powering it with electricity from the van or maybe a powered campsite

i might just stick to propane even though the canning pot manufacturer put inserts with the canner specifically warning against it... it's too hot and can become an explosion hazard.. but if i use some sort of buffer.. like a big cast iron pan.. it will hopefully be fine
