I used to drink a lot of pine needle tea. It's not really food. They make turpentine from pine trees, afterall.

OP, you can eat the new shoots or the insides of the pinecones, if you boil them right and they're the right species, or the sap of certain trees (it tastes HORRIFIC), but they are SURVIVAL food, they don't exactly taste good and doing it wrong could kill you. You wouldn't just pick milkweed and eat it without proper prep after all!
Some jimson weed tea should clear that right up.
