Time for some history facts.
All those wars you just listed were basically boons for the military industrial complex. During Vietnam the us didn't just level and conquer every single city in northern Vietnam because they couldn't but because the rules of engagement for that war was not to invade the north.

Both Iraq and Afghanistan were both long drawn out conflicts because one it's hard to subdue guerrilla fighters and two we refused to use the rather violent and domineering tactics that are necessary. And again the military industrial complex was cool with that because they had two extended conflicts that could supply weapons for
