This really great bar near my place has tater tots as a side option for almost all of their meals. Since I'm in MD, I can ask for Old Bay seasoning on my tots. It's fucking excellent - would recommend everyone to try.

At home, I usually get the frozen tater tots and heat them up and eat them with ketchup, bbq, ranch, ect. In my neighborhood growing up there was a kid named Tate and he was retarded and we called him tater tot. good memories
I prefer Crispy Crowns. They're basically a flattened tater tot. If I just want a handful, they're easier to pan fry.

I don't know why but I've never been much of a fan of tater tots. I always consider them to be a second rate preparation of potatoes.
The funny thing is that I don't see hash browns as being enormously different but properly made hash browns are extremely satisfying.
Maybe it's because I think of tater tots as either baked or deep fried while the best hash browns are fried in butter.
