The reason Culvers kicks most fast food burgers' asses is because it's right on the boarderline of what's considered fast food. Inside the restaurant they give you a number and bring it out to your table 5 or 10 minutes later when it's ready, and often in the drive through they have you pull forward and wait and they bring it out when it's ready since it's all made fresh. Not knocking Culvers though, I love their food
I like the burgers I make at home I add a little chili powder and then melt a Kraft single on top then I toast wheat bread on the grill. Taste pretty good.

No, there is actual science in this, the fat in the pan amplifies the amount of fat that comes out of the burger, it's a chemical process.
by all means don't believe me and test it yourself, weigh and cook burger in a dry pan and then repeat in a pan with hot fat, it's instructive

When we raised cattle, we would butcher one or two a year for our own consumption. Those were great hamburgers and were entirely from the one we butchered.
And they were 100% grass-fed, too.
The best quality consistent hamburgers in my county is from the lunch counter at the drug store. I've never eaten one there that wasn't quite good. And they are the best price of any hamburgers in the county.
On the other hand, the average age of the diners there is at least 60.
At the other restaurants, what you get is more of a crap shoot.
