I was tricked into helping a bunch of children make a gingerbread house. The icing was the consistency of jizz and the house kept falling over because the kids kept touching it in all the wrong places in a misguided attempt to keep it from falling over. Fuck children and fuck gingerbread houses.

This is a pretty fucking depressing Gingerbread House man.
Just look at this sad scene and imagine being that Gingerbread woman. Her husband has just come back from fighting in Afgummystan in the Bake-ing hot desert without any arms. She has waited months for him to return but she didn't expect this. The proud man she remembers is gone. Just look at his icing smile, it barely stays on his face, and those green eyes are basically dead because he has Post Traumatic Stress Decoration (PTSD) and is suicidal.
As soon as he got home he tried to compensate for his disability by fixing the leaky roof but he completely destroyed it, and now Christmas will be freezing. The snow on the roof is coming into the house and she can only afford a dress to warm herself because she spent all of her money on his physical therapy sessions for dealing with the loss of both arms. The trees outside are barely decorated, he managed to put up some lights but then got too tired and had to go in.
This was supposed to be the best christmas ever. And it turned into the worst.

Those structures would be smaller than a tent. In the case of the lean-to, that is half of a tent. Meaning, ultimately, that one had eaten even more of the ginger bread than you did. It was a joke and it went soaring over your head like an orbiting space station.

I think it's a New England/eastern thing. I used to live out there as a boy and we used to make them in school before winter break. It was, well, like a 'make a gingerbread-house party' on the last Friday then no_school.jpg for the next two weeks. I look back fondly. Things were simpler back then.
